i am sure nisio isin wrote koyomi for kamiya hiroshi specifically just like he wrote Hitagi Senjougahara specifically for chiwa saito. Ihave no proof nor doubts.

Not really. The structure is so beautiful that if you pay attention to EVERYTHING (dialogue, backgrounds, title cards) you can start to build the world from the first episode of the broadcast order. But if you are a "lazy" viewer, then you might be right.

@@NoxSuperNova not sure if it's that black and white. Seiyuu are pretty busy and they do work for a lot of different series. Most say they don't know much about it outside of what they need to for their job, which is understandable especially for a large novel series like this, not explicitly that they dislike it. Kamiya is just particularly dedicated, and plus he has the lead role.

I guess it's OK to watch the dubs of the mass market anime (Titan, SAO, Natuto, One Piece). These are just churned out, without much thought. But for top tier anime (Monogatari, Seitokai YD, Infinite Stratos, Uchouten Kazoku) the seiyu really shine. The dubs lose a lot of what makes them great. They take a more dedicated viewer, who's willing to put some effort into understanding the whole.

Princeofcups You have it the wrong way around. One Piece is widely acclaimed across generations and nationalities; Shingeki no Kyojin is particularly renowned for its quality. Harem shows can be fun to watch, but let's be real, they only have narrow appeal to a niche market, and this _is_ an accurate indicator of their objective worth. The phrase "Top tier" doesn't apply to series like that; it's a phrase you'd use to describe ones that appeal to human beings in general, exactly like OP, Hero Academy, Hunter x Hunter, Shingeki no Kyojin and other 'big' series.

Are the VA's allowed to talk like the character outside of the show? Like on a radio for example or is it against a cont4ract or something. I've always wondered.

Note that all the in-character talks done as DVD commentary are scripted by the novel author personally. In fact he is personally present during recording and actually alter the script on the fly as needed. As the author, he is the only person to gets to decide what a character would or would not say. The actors can say what they want, but it is only in-character if the author okayed it.

Same, most likely because of the change of script style. The monogatari series has always been monologue and dialogue heavy but its different here in kizu, kamiya dislike that changes, dunno about the rest tho.

Can't blame them. They're used with the voice acting directing in the TV series that has more monologues. So suddenly having not to open with one would be a jarring difference.

Urara it's funny, because having a lot of monologues and opening the show with one, it's what use to be jarring to the audience, while the style of the movies is more "traditional" and generally liked.

In something like this movie they don’t get as much to do because of how light in dialogue it is (compared to the sprawling dialogue of the TV arcs). So there was less room for them to play around and have fun with the script, since that wasn’t as much of a focus with the movies.
