You bought a house in Vero Beach!! Wow!! That is great news and so exciting. Now you have that warm fuzzy filling of home sweet home again. Vero Beach is one of my favorite towns in Florida. It is so beautiful with tree lined streets, beautiful homes, a very nice beach with a very quaint little down town and great restaurants. And it's 10 minutes from Mom and Dad!! How awesome is that? I think it's great to make the choice to be near your parents. I took care of both of my parents in their last years and it's hard having lost them both before I was even 55. You never know how much time you have left and it's good to know for yourself that you are making the most of it. Keep following what you feel is God's plan for you and honor what you need to do for yourself and for your family. Love following your travels and seeing France through your eyes. AND keep going on learning French! So hard to learn another language like learning to play an instrument when you're older (I'm learning piano) but so worth it and really great for brain health as we age - developing neuroplasticity! I'm sure the travels is also great in that regard! 😊 Keep following your hearts and sharing your story!

I don’t believes in limitations, and you should do whatever you wish for the moment. Moving to another country doesn’t have to be a permanent move. How great it is to have multiple bases. Traveling around without a base is great too. Just being able to live as you wish is a huge privilege. Enjoy yourselves and your family!

Hello from Wisconsin!!! Interesting update and commentary re: your plans. I guess I never sensed a complete break away from 🇺🇸 to Paris for the two of you. With family, kids, folks here...there is no total break. Life is options and they are fluid so names don't mean much. @@kjandtonylovefrance Please keep in mind close up photography in France is illegal for publication unless you have the individuals permission. and forget about photographing kids. That's why you have so few vlogs of people interviewed in France. France has very strict privacy laws. Example. If you took a video of me walking down the street in Paris without my permission and published the video on social media, I could have you take down the video and since social media usually disregards these requests then I could sue you in a French court.

Thanks for sharing your update with us. Like you, I've decided to split my time between two countries and keep a home base in the US for business and personal reasons. Being able to go abroad several months a year is enough for now, and it's much easier to manage the visa/residency process. It would be great to see how others are managing this lifestyle, and of course we want to hear what you think of other cities in France besides Paris and Nice.

I never left my region until my parents were dead. I was heartsick from the moment I left. I flew back home 10 times a year. Luckily I had the job to travel easily. I returned home permanently 10 years later. I could not be away from my grandchildren, daughter and siblings. The pull was too great. So happy for the both of you. Glad to see that you were able to find a work around. I love France and have been waiting for the chance to return.

Been looking forward to your Eiffel Tower Jules Verne episode. We were in Paris last October at the same time you were there but we were unable to get a dinner reservation at JV. We had lunch there on a past trip and loved the experience. On our October 2023 trip we had to settle for a Seine-lunch cruise aboard Le Carife… it turned out to be a gorgeous sunny afternoon and the highlight of our Paris trip. We also visited Avignon for 3 days which was magical. Continue to enjoy your travels and I totally understand the feeling of security you describe in having a “home base” in the USA.

Hi KJ and Tony I think you are heading in the same direction of A Leeds! It seems a lot of us expats either do that or live in France for 10 or 15 years and then head back home again. We are loving France and see ourselves once kids are bigger going back and forth. But we may make Nice the home base. Our Fl home gives us some nice income. We will be in Nice full time in Sept , so hope to catch you there. Maybe do a lunch for expats there with Adrian Leeds? We would love to join it! And yes Tony I am the same way, good to sit by the restaurant while my wife is out and about!

Lovely couple but far too cautious looking and checking every option and getting themselves tied up in the process. Didn't they think about their elderly parents before they started this adventure. Go for it before its too late what can go so wrong you have a house in the US. I don't think they will ever make the move.they love their life in US too much.

I actually admire you two for being transparent about your change of heart, or re-envisioning of your travel future. It is a very big decision and your journey highlights the all-too-human tendency to get ahead of ourselves and to want to jump in. I can totally relate. It's very telling about your relation with France when you speak about your apt in Boca when you say "once we moved in there and started exploring it, it wasn't as great as we thought it was going to be".

I don't know if it's telling or not since you don't know the details. I, personally, have lived in Boca for over 30 years and Tony lived there with me for the past 15 years. I made that comment because the apt complex itself was beautiful, but it was managed horribly. That's what we meant.

@@kjandtonylovefrance Maybe I can give more context making this analogy using SOFLA as a reference as I am very familiar with the area having parents now deceased who lived there for over 30 years. As a matter of fact in Delray in addition to North Miami and Coral Springs intitially. Some of the homes in this area are absolutely stunning inside and out. Some people I know here in France would absolutely die for them when I show them pictures. But along comes a hurricane and literally blows the house down (Andrew 1992) and what remains looks like a pile of plywood. In other words what we see on the outside is not necessarily what makes up what we see once we are on the inside. A beautiful house but with weak foundations meaning construction. Such applies to France and as a matter of fact to any other country. You may read glorious reviews of the country by people who maybe made a trip or two there and you may even visit and have a wonderful time with great friendly people at every step, but once you are on the inside, it's a whole other kettle of fish and the facade which you initially saw begins to crumble. In fact the Japanese media will not print any negative remarks about France in spite of the fact that half of them who once came here would be robbed. They don't come much anymore as the yen has taken a beating. Nor do I see many Chinese here as I did before. The continual strikes and rioting such as last year have taken their toll on Asian visitors also. So as you said the apt complex itself was beautiful, but it was managed horribly. So too can this apply to a country. The country can be beautiful as are many countries but the management can be bad and you never know that until you are both linguistically and culturally functional in said country or as you said in a vlog or on your website, I don't remember which, sometimes the perception of the fantasy is not the reality. In any case I wish you both the best of luck in whatever choice you make.

I 100% understand your decision. I am currently back-and-forth between the U.S. and France (spend about 4 months a year in France), and it's what I need right now. My fiancé is in France in our shared apartment, but my parents, sister and her family, friends are in the U.S. and I can't imagine not being around to maintain those relationships. I am lucky that my fiancé is eventually planning to move here, but even so, we will always spend a significant amount of time in France. I miss it when I'm here in the U.S. So anyway, I think you're making the right decision both not to rush into a purchase and a huge move when there's so much of France you haven't explored, but also to spend as much time as you can with your parents while you still have them. P.S. Maybe watch the pronunciation of "un peu" 😉- it sounded a bit more like "un 💩" 😅

You guys provide a lot of information. You have a great sense of adventure and passion. I speak French and was going to move to Bordeaux many years ago, but now after traveling to London, Rome and Berlin many times and seeing things in person I’d rather stay in the US because Europe has been restricting freedom of speech and sooner or later the European society due to their policies would be overtaken by people coming from the East who cannot assimilate and want to change the European culture itself.

Wonderful update and seems like you guys are in an intelligent and well thought out position…question: are there any ex-pat groups of folks like yourselves available or that you’ve thought of joining, just to make new friends in your similar positions? Just curious. Finally, and ‘please’ do not take this as a slight in any way, the correct, at least French way to pronounce Montreux is found in Julien Miguel’s 1 minute YT vid. I’m only 54 but my mom is 93 with Parkinson’s and my dad is 94 with delayed relay issues. So I’m not moving until they’re done. Then I’ll fly free. But I want to be there for them while I can and while they’re here. 🥰 Nothing wrong with that! 🌸

@P.Galore I have a 87 old mom living in Germany. She can hardly hear (hearing aid doesn’t help) and make no more phone calls because of it. Has issues to walk and has to wear glasses. She has to use public transportation (thank God that it is available!) to get groceries. There is nobody to help her. No family, no friends. You have no idea how it weighs on me. I live a good 30 hours travel time away. Not to mention that our financial situation does not allow travel back and forth. I have a ill husband, too. Who do I leave? Your comment is a very selfish one. No conscience. Obviously you only have yourself to worry about.

"Once we moved in there and started experiencing it, it wasn't like as great as we thought it would be." as per your apartment you rented. This reminds me of the comment you made on your website as per France when the fantasy doe not turn out to be the fantasy you thought it would be. I still after all this time fail to understand why your are fixated on France when there are so many other great countries to visit in Europe and it seems as if you want to keep visiting France through cognitive dissonance a kind of apology to France for not making it on the KJ and Tony move to France. You can visit a country dozens of times but you will not really understand the country and it's people until you actually live there and speak the language very well and understand the vocal and facial gestures until understanding everything. We visited Iceland 5X in two and a half years and debated moving there (from France) but then I got to thinking about 6 months of darkness and 6 months of light and a heatwave is 60° in Summer and - 20° in Winter and the 2 foot snowstorm remembered in Reykjavik in late April. I am in no way trying to dilute you're dreams but it seems to me that you are trying to tell your listeners something without saying it directly. I could give you a hundred reasons. why you should explore other countries in Europe and discover them. Not necessarily for living there one day but to experience their beauty, culture and food, history etc. But I trust that your deep convictions...the real ones that brought you back to the USA will guide you through. There is nothing better than traveling and we sure do take advantage of it. off to Lisbon next week. Visit as many places as you can and when you are REALLY ready the answer will come. No more brash decisions. I came here to marry when I was 24 after living on a Kibbutz for a year so for me I had nothing that would keep me in the USA. And a little secret. As a kid I always dreamt of escaping. I fulfilled my responsibilities as a son, finished university and one year later I was gone on a one way ticket out.

Permanently moving to another country is a bit complicated when you're older, much easier in your youth. You probably know this already, but if your plan is to move to Paris now isn't the time to buy. Of course the Olympics have something to do with it. Hi, as a French citizen, I think whenever you decide to buy property and reside here permanently (or maybe like 8 months a year or some significant amount of time), the only choice is Paris or some close "rich" suburb of Paris like Neuilly-sur-Seine to the west or Saint-Mandé to the East. Because everything in France is centralized in Paris, I mean, entertainment, culture, hospitals, restaurants, shops... you have all of these things in other cities, but you will only have a fraction of the choice you get in Paris or in one of these suburbs very close to it. So if you can afford property either in Paris itself or a close suburb, it's in my humble opinion better to do this and then rent a week or 2 in Nice or wherever you like, take a plane, take a train and then come back to Paris and never get bored. I'm pretty sure you will get bored if you choose the opposite of what I described.

Hi Just wanted to let you know when you step onto French soil in a few days you will be stepping into a country that this evening voted overwhelmingly for the far right party in the European Parliament. So what does this mean. it means that the French President Macron has dissolved the French Parliament and called for new elections the 30th and 7th of July in hopes of maintaining a majority in the French Parliament Now what could happen? If the far right wins the upcoming parliamentary elections that will mean that the Prime Minister who determines the politics of the country will be appointed by Macron and this Prime Minister is on the far right. A far right who has already made it well known that they are on the side of Russia. A far right who is not a friend of the United States. The US will lose a major ally in Europe. They are popping the champagne corks in Moscow tonight. Very sad! Have a nice trip.
