We forgot to mention that the price-point for this hotel and others we recommend in our blog will vary depending upon the time of year you visit Paris. We tend to visit during the shoulder season and when the flights are less expensive. Please keep this in mind, as someone just sent me a message that they are searching for a hotel in late September and it was higher than $200. Our numbers are accurate for when we visited Paris in June. We are going back Oct/November and finding this price-point to be the same at this time of year. Do you have a favorite hotel in Paris? Let us know your personal recommendations!

I like your French! My favorite hotels in Paris are: Hotel Duquesne Eiffel: 23, Avenue Duquesne, 7th arr. and Bedford Hotel, 17 Rue de l'Arcade. Have a great day!

Since I’ll be visiting Paris next year, I’m interesting to find a good affordable hotel in the safe area. Even though it looks nice but the price is way over $200. For instance for September the price varies from the cheapest $437 to $902 per night on Booking. Probably it would be a good idea to mention where you book this hotel at the best price. Thank you for the video.

I'm definitely more like KJ. And it's refreshing to hear someone talk about a reasonable hotel budget. I'm on sites where people rave about a hotel, but when I check, it's upwards of 400€ a night. KJ, thought your French at the beginning sounded great! This hotel sounds good but it is closer to €315 a night.

I had the same problem about accent at Chez Janou last time. Guy at bar looked at me with blank expression following my monologue about reservation. Guys drinking at the bar started to laugh and in English one of they explained to me French was pretty good but my accent was terrible. In end all had pretty good laugh, no one was being rude or mean and we were shown to our table.

@@kjandtonylovefrance Not even close to the only one. My wife speaks no French and garbles what she knows. Took the longest time to get over fear of rejection but now after many trips to Paris she just charges ahead on her own. Has a favorite hairdresser in Paris and now thinks nothing of going to get her hair done and meeting me later.

@richardporter62016 ай бұрын
@@Djbobo1260 By and large no one is messing with us, just they are thinking in French and hear non but close French and first instinct is to correct the error which comes across as rude or just ignore the garbled French. I have found the French to be very nice if you just give them a chance and remember to work on understanding their rules. Good example is Bonjour Madam. Sounds stupid to us but is important to them so say it every time you go into a store but don’t smile like an idiot when you do. Don’t hold your hand out for change , take it from the little plate. Don’t walk down the street eating though discreet nibble on a baguette I think is ok. Opens lot of doors.

Your pronunciation & accent is improving, so félicitations! We mostly stay with family and friends in 🇫🇷, but when we don’t, my preference is an AirBnb because I go to bed earlier, as well as wake up earlier than my husband, so we prefer a bedroom with a door & a living room/dining room/kitchen area for privacy. There are great AirBnbs for less than €200 per night, some w/a balcony even in Paris, though that’s rare. Plus, you can make breakfast at ‘home’ & have a leisurely start to the day.

When I was moving to Paris I rented an apartment around the corner from your hotel. I was rarely in my room other than to sleep, with so much to do, so I rented a flat for 65€ per night. A studio with a kitchen on Rue Mazarine. Parfait. Yes, fourth floor without an elevator ... but cheap and no charge for the mouse that kept me company 🤪. Taking the money I saved I was able to eat some very fine French meals without hesitation or guilt. Oh .. the WiFI was blistering fast and I lost ten pounds using those darn stairs! bon temps .. -Daniel (Saint-Germain-des-Prés)

I looked at the hotels first mid October and the rates were well over $500! Am I doing something wrong? We’re not going until 2025, so not in a rush.
@kjandtonylovefrance6 ай бұрын
The rates generally don't start coming down until the end of October. We just booked October 30 through November 11 and were able to get a rate of 230 euros, which is a little over budget but we are also trying a new location. If you have specific dates that are not flexibile then it can be more challenging. I choose our dates around when it is less expensive.

KJ, the accent for arrondissement is on the second syllable, and there are four syllables. ... I pronounce it "ah-RON-deze-men." You're dropping the first syllable. (And the "t" in "ment" is silent). and the neighborhood is saint germain de PRAY ... the "e" in Pres is pronounced as a long "a" Love your channel!

I really don't like to be negative (and rarely am), but I ended up fast forwarding the intro, that's simply too slow and too long. As for the content, and please forgive me, I almost want to refer to this as Paris for Dummies. Your 10 aspects of what make a hotel great are what most people expect provided their budget permits. Aside from that, there's the matter of personal preference, and the fact that price doesn't always equate to quality. I'm with Tony as far as returning to the same hotel (if it's not broken don't fix it) and also to some of the same restaurants while still trying new ones, of course. .

They are both psychologists and recovering or recovered alcoholics so they have got to tell their life stories as in therapy before you can ask where's the beef. They'll never make it in France spilling their life stories. The French are very secretive people or as I was told a long long ago. The more you say the more suspicious they become. Another reason their CV's are very short, one page with very few extracurricular activities mentioned. And as Marcel Pagnol once said..The Mediterraneans talk a lot to hide what they really want to say. "Les Mediteranéens parlent beaucoup pour cacher ce que ils ont à dire."
