I lived in Paris for 8 years. There is nothing wrong south you possibly living in both places. If you’ve never lived abroad before it can be overwhelming. Please know that you don’t have to vlog as much as you do. It takes time to get your footing in a new place, let alone a new country. When it’s time for you to return to Paris, why not just turn the cameras off snd gently learn about your surroundings, find your rhythm. We’ll be here to continue to support you both. Take your time. We can wait and do can Paris.

I must tell you both how inspired I was by your travels in France, but even *more* inspired by your transparency and vulnerability in this video. Thank you so much for sharing your experience with us. I was surprised by how much you were posting, and completely understand why that was too much. Change for me is very very challenging so I applaud the huge steps that you took together. Your experience and reactions are the OPPOSITE of failure ❤

I am new to seeing your channel and it all seems like such a lovely idea, but I have to ask you a question. Are you aware of all the changes that are happening all over the world? I think it would be very stressful to change your life in such a huge move while the world is going through so many changes spiritually, politically, socially and monetarily. That's enough to make anyone's head spin. Many people might not agree with this but it is the truth. We as humans are getting and are currently going through changes on all fronts which are unique in all of human history. Whether or not you believe it, Bible prophecy is playing out in front of all of us. The world is about to be in Tribulation for the next three and a half to seven years. I hate to be a "Debbie Downer", but there are going to be more lockdowns, vaccines, change in world wide currency and lots more social unrest. I can see why anyone would be very stressed out not being around familiar things, when the whole world is losing its mind, around all of us. Whether or not you believe in Jesus, He is about to return and take His children out of this world, because the next few years of Tribulation are going to start at any moment if they haven't already. If anyone thinks what I am saying is crazy, read the book of Revelation. It's all coming to pass. If I were in your shoes, which I am not, but I wouldn't want to leave my elderly parents at all and be in a different country either. Travel is probably going to be restricted more than it already is. It's amazing to me that many people in the world can look around and not notice anything going on, but it's time to wake up. We all need discernment and the only place to get that is with the Holy Spirit through belief in Jesus. No one should want to be on this earth during the Tribulation, because in order for you to be saved you must believe that Jesus died for you and you can't take the Mark of the beast and you should not take any Bill Gates and Dr. Fauci vaccines. You have to admit that the elites and the powers that be just want to take your rights away from you and control every aspect of your life, especially communication, travel and money. They try to pass themselves off as such philanthropic helpers if the world when they are just the opposite. Sorry this is so long, but I have to say it couldn't be more normal than to listen to what your body is telling you that things are not right and that there are too many adjustments to be made in life right now. Many people are losing everything. God is trying to get people's attention, because he wants to save us all. The next few years are going to be ruled by the evil one and many people will have to go against him and will probably be killed for their faith, if they make it that far. If these were normal times, I think your channel would be wonderful, but we are all living not in normal times. I wish you all the best and God's blessings and protection upon you.

I empathized with you because my husband and me planned many years ago to return to Spain after retirement where we lived some years but has been impossible for different reasons. And then decided to travel different places very often instead . I think the way you’re planning now to stay some months and back is more realistic and is a smart decision. God bless you and continue with your videos at your own pace. We enjoy them very much.

Thank you so much for being honest about your depression. Mental health issues do have a stigma around them, and they shouldn't. As someone who has struggled all of my life with depression, anxiety, and ADHD, it's wonderful to see someone talking openly about their struggles. That move was an enormous change in weather, language, lifestyle, family. It's easy to think that you're ready because you want to be and you feel like you are, but it turns out to be too much. Adding pain like you're having with your knee to that just exacerbates the issue. Now you can think through your next steps from the comfort of a place where you feel at home. Having your own possessions around you is also extremely important. I've been to Paris twice on short visits of two or three days. I didn't see all of the sights, but I did love the atmosphere and the architecture, walking along the Champs-Élysées, and sitting in a sidewalk cafe watching the people go by. Don't pressure yourself to make so many videos unless you are dependent on the money, which I don't believe is the case. When it stops being fun, then you shouldn't be doing it. I didn't realize that KJ had another KZbin channel, but I would love to check it out if you provide a link. Best of luck.

KJ and Tony, I just discovered your videos today. All this resonates so much with me. My husband and I live in Miami, Florida. We have been talking about moving away for years, and France has been high on our list. I know both Paris and Nice very well (I am European and a French teacher), and, although I love both, I would prefer to live in Nice, and just visit Paris. For us, Floridians, used to seeing the sun every day, the south makes sense. Your experience is not a failure. Finding out what we want and how to achieve it is a process. You are inspirational. I wish you the very best!

The airport transfer is easy on the metro and we have chosen the Hotel Beau Rivage as it has its own beach. Perfect in all weathers with shops museums good train links and best of all the Promenade.

I was a military wife for 20 years. The depression you suffered from is something I went through when ever we moved to another country. When I was younger I got through it a bit easier and faster but when I was in my early 40s we got stationed in southern Italy. That's where I again suffered from depression. It's all linked to you knowing you are going to be there a long time, culture shock, missing home aka U.S., time changes, etc. It took me about 6 months to get out of that depression. I never came home to the US to visit family for fear of going through the readjustment again when returning to Italy. Don't beat yourself up over you needing to come home. Maybe it would just be best to go for a month at a time. Take care.

Posting adventures restaurants etc..I am going back to visit..now costly in Summer. I have been traveling in Mexico for over 2 months...working with Airbb..sometimes good one week at time another passible.I recall Tony saying what do with your clothes...since caught in season change of clothing..I do need downsize my suitcase...for its been OK on bus to Airbb...but now be taking trains in Europe..it will be more difficult..heavy suitcase..any tips Tony?

Moving to any country is a huge change and challenge The language, culture, bureaucracy, financial system of France is very different than America. It is necessary to speak fluent French to make friends or to work. French is very difficult to learn for many Americans. That combined with the slowness and complexity of the bureaucracy is frustrating and overwhelming for may people who are used to speed and efficiency. The number of papers and dossiers required in France is incredible. Lose one piece of paper and you must start all over and that can take years. There is often no AC in France and winters can be very cold without enough heat. All of that is challenging.

But once I started meeting people, making friends and having new experiences I became stronger as a person. I learned so much about myself that I can now move anywheres. Tony looks so much like my brother, it blows my mind! Stigma? Not anymore. Most of humanity has experienced depression and or anxiety at some point. 41 years ago, I remarried, moved 2 hours away, and had a new baby all within 13 months. Depression hit me.... and panic attacks. I constantly hyperventilated and shook like a goof. I had a 4 y/o and a precious newborn, but I wanted to take my babies and go "HOME". Back then, no one knew how to help. My OB put me on massive amounts of Valium. I took 1 pill, and flushed the rest down the toilet. After 3 years of that plus another baby, I finally packed up the kids and moved "Home". Eventually, my husband moved back too. I'm also a very driven person, and that bout just about cooked me. Fortunately, now so much more is understood about depression, being stressed out. You seem to have a very understanding and caring husband, who seems to genuinely care FOR YOU. I don't know you, but your honest admission about what you went through could very well help and be an encouragement to others! I feel proud of you! As for Paris, the closest I've come to it is that I had a boyfriend whose mother was from France. LOL! I wish you both the very best!!

So glad you’re back! I’ve been reading the blog and realized how overwhelming this has been for you. Having been through a similar experience, I think people underestimate how stressful the combination of leaving your family, moving abroad, retiring, starting a new venture, physical injury or illness and other life events can be. Sometimes it takes a few attempts to find the right cadence. I also want to thank you for continuing to build community amongst those of us who love France. In the same way you feel about Paris, I dreamt of moving to Lyon but always wanted to live on the coast. Because of your channel, I’ve decided to visit Nice and Marseille later this year to see if either is right for me. In terms of content, it would be helpful to hear what you might have done, or would do, differently. What are your key take-aways from the experience so far - physically, emotionally, spiritually, financially, etc? How will this inform your plans going forward?

Thanks also for your questions that we will fully address during our next Q&A session. One thing I can tell that I've learned from our experience is knowing where you want to settle prior to the final transition to France. The moving from place to place was much harder than I ever anticipated it would be. This is part of the reason why I think you are wise to go check out a few other places before you move. Thanks again ❤️

@@kjandtonylovefrance Thanks, I think it's also vital to realize places change over time. After a career as a global expat, I thought I knew where I wanted to go but I spent another year traveling to 12 countries, spending 1 month in each. By the end, I was wiped out so I came back to the US to create a better plan. That was in 2018. In the interim, due to stricter visa rules, war or inflation, some places are no longer an option.

Hello KJ and Tony, It was so good to see your post today, just to know you two are doing fine. Life deals us some setbacks at times and we need to regroup and take another look at moving forward. So pleased to know KJ that you listened to your body and “just came home” no matter what the reason. That was Your Best Move! So pleased to hear you both still want to continue your travels in France, one at a time for now. My husband and I have visited Bayeux, Paris and Chamonix 5 years ago now. We truly were captivated by the western coast of France and by Paris itself. We are now planning another trip to Paris and Bayeux very soon and so enjoyed your adventure videos. But seeing to some very real health challenges before this undertaking. Life is short. Time to plan our adventures and be well and healthy first. Travel is for good health, not struggle. Looking forward to seeing more of your plans either for France or even Boca Ratan. Remember to shine where you find yourself. We have never seen Boca Ratan and would love to have an insiders view of where you may be in the moment. Only when you are up for it though. Love and light, Jean

So much to explore here. I’m in France now on a similar quest. I think if it hadn’t been for your knee mostly. You might have figured it out differently. Then the out of Paris letdown vis the more rural lol lifestyle in Versailles. You learned you want to be right in the action and I am also looking for that. I want to live over the store. You learned you have a tenderness for your Florida life and that is beautiful by itself. For many people I know widowed like me, that is enough to keep them somewhere. But for me, working it out as I am writing, traveling with my husband was possibly the source of our exhilaration of being together so hitting the road as I approach 80 is a way of being with him. And thanks for you being you! I feel like we’re all in the room together talking and working things out.

Happy to see you together again. I have been single for almost 40 years (I'm 75 soon) and I enjoy change. Yes, the challenges are there, the adjustment is real, but there are only two types of people regarding this area, those who enjoy the stimulation of meeting new people, going to new places and absorbing a new culture fulltime, and those who don't, or can only manage a small dose of this type of immersion. My son who is married and has three children with his wife, he is the latter, and likes to make his place on the planet and stick to it, and in his case, the US. We are opposites in this way. So for the last decade, I did all the traveling back and forth to the US to stay with them for a few months each year. Now we are trying to find a better compromise so I can split my year up with 6 months in the US and 6 months in Italy. This is mostly for them I admit. And we all want my grandchildren to know who I am haha. I think finding a compromise between these two different types of people is important. I am just sharing my story with you and certainly not implying any application to your lives. But for sure, I really enjoy living in Italy and traveling in the EU. But on the other hand, the world is changing fast, and not for the better. So for me, I believe that each of us needs to trust God to put us where we need to be, and if that requires dramatic change, then He will give us the courage to do it. I hope you get better quickly KJ, and Tony, keep writing those blogs! 🙂God bless you both. 🌺

Kudos to you both for having the courage to show your vulnerability ! I moved to Paris 3 weeks ago with my husband … we are in our 40s. We lived in India for a year before moving here. Prior to that, we lived in the US for 25 years. I never missed the US when I moved to India … however 2 days after I moved to Paris, I started missing india so much. I think I miss the warmth, the sun shine and the vibrancy of india. In comparison, Paris is very cold, cloudy and really rather organized and quiet. The homesickness comes in waves … and to add to this, my husband got shingles here. So we had to navigate the French health care system as well. My husband is slowly getting better … and I am struggling with my feeling of homesickness everyday. I hope these feelings settle down over time as I integrate more into this society and set up my own routine here.

Hi Gayatri - I'm so sorry to hear about your husband's shingles. Tony had shingles several years ago and it was awful. I'm also sorry to hear of your homesickness for India. Obviously, I can totally relate to how you are feeling and know how difficult those emotions are. There is definitely something to be said for the power of the sun. The weather change from when we were in Paris to when we moved to Versailles was significant and the sun was a rare occurrence. You are also facing some unexpected adversity, with the shingles and what you are having to navigate to address and cope with that situation. Give yourself some compassion and loving kindness, if possible. Also, are there any groups or resources that would help you feel more connected to India? Sending you love and prayers for your sadness to lift and physical healing for your husband 🥰🙏💞

Dear Ones: You did not fail! You learned something. You just simply took a detour. Having experienced something similar last year, I am back in the U.S. for a year. My son in law became ill and I came back to assist that young family. God has a plan for all of us. When I went to get my belongings out of storage, it was like Christmas times 100!!!! l love everything I had kept. Was it your intent to earn while you were in France? That changes the tax reporting burden. I am excited for your new plan and I will continue to wish and pray for your success and continued good health.
@kjandtonylovefrance

Hi Norma - Thank you for your encouragement and support. Yes, opening up the boxes from storage was very much like Christmas times 100 for me as well. And yes, I wanted to be able to continue meeting with my clients online, which really should not be considered making money in France, since it's making US money with US clients. That's one of the issues that makes France difficult for relocation. I'm only 58 and not ready to retire and give up making income. Malta and Portugal have digital nomad visas and I hope that France decides to allow this type of visa sometime in the future, since they are relatively new.

Your experience is NOT a failure! You did what you wanted to do, and were transparent and courageous enough to decide that something wasn’t working…, that’s amazing. What strength and also clarity and focus that takes… I’m so sick and burnt out by the MANY millennial KZbinrs having moved to France (on their families dime usually) vlogging about a life most of us can’t afford - it’s always felt so unauthentic. But never you two. Nothing is permanent and your dreams are always adapting and changing! Who knows what the future holds !! Most of all I am inspired by such transparency it’s so refreshing on this platform. My only suggestion would be - now is the time to truly immerse in French language studies as that will make a world of difference (I learned this the hard way myself!) I love Dr Stephen krashen’s language acquisition theory - incredible stuff… anyway, you guys are awesome and have inspired me ❤

I grew up in SoCal and I lived in UK for a year and half and after my first winter I knew it’s not the place for me. It’s not the temperature or the rain that killed it for me. I just couldn’t deal with the sun setting before 4pm in the winter. I’d imagine France is similar in the winter. But at least France has good food.

Take care, and hope the knee replacement recovery goes smoothly! ❤

Hello KJ and Tony, as like all the followers I been looking and waiting for an update. I’m so happy that you are doing well. I don’t see any failures this is your life and your journey that you wanted to share with all of us and I think that’s why everyone loves you and the video blew up because you’re so transparent and you want to do something different that probably so many people would want to do but for so many reasons they don’t or can’t. I totally can relate to you , my move to USA was little different, I was young ,however it is a huge change. Thank you for having the courage to share , you don’t own anyone anything. 💝

It's so wonderful to hear from both of you. You are so right, this is in no way a failure! What an enlightening and exciting experience you have both lived. Thank you for bringing us all along with you. I would do videos at leisure! If not, it kind of turns into a JOB that takes away from what you are trying to accomplish here I think. I personally would love to see just more about both you of, wherever and whenever that may be. You both have inspired me to get my passport renewed and fulfill some bucket list items! Thank you for being REAL and sharing all of this with us! ❤

I admire both of you so much. KJ, please get your knee replaced and allow ample time for recovery. I had mine done in Orlando in September, 2022. I cannot imagine tackling four flights of stairs on my old knee in addition to walking everywhere. You were simply worn out and your body made a definitive statement. You both are amazing and I’m looking forward to updates. The music at the end is exquisite! ❤

Thank you, Susan. Appreciate your kind words of encouragement and support. Yes, the music is one of the many street musicians Tony recorded in Nice. I forgot to mention in the video that it's from Nice.

Appreciate the transparency and honesty. I feel the value for me from your experience is that if one wants to consider such a move, maybe it's best to travel back and forth over time to know for sure if that move is what one would want. I imagine it would be hard on anyone making such a move, without having certainty from one week to the next. Glad you're better. I would love to see videos of Nice.

Yes, the traveling back and forth to determine where you want to settle BEFORE you move is definitely the way to go.

Hello KJ & Tony! It is so good to see the two of you back on your channel! I hoped you were well when your seemingly regular videos discontinued. So happy to see that you are well! I have an idea of how the language barrier, alone, could contribute to desperately wanting to return home, a comfort zone! Your courage to get as far as you did is very admirable. All the best to you moving forward!

The way you two are together and enjoy everyday things is one thing that attacted me to your channel, so whatever and whenever you want to post will be fine. You could do lunch in Boca or take a ride on that new Brightline train and that would be fun.

I had a long career in television news and find you all more interesting than many of my favorite news shows. But no pressure! Post when you feel like it and we are here for you. It doesn’t need to be fancy. Just an occasional update from an interesting couple is great. Finding life after leaving busy careers… your road to recovery … travel… managing mental health… are all great topics you tackle so well. Once a month is great. Thank you for an inspiring update.
