[1986] Alex Jordan Group / "Funky Feelin" [Full Album]

This is a record I discovered in a shop years ago, from "Penta Flowers", an obscure Italian jazz label that mostly put out easy-listening and Gemini library music, and a few jazz-fusion albums. This is one of two excellent records I own off the label, with the cuts "Blue Waters" and "Green Land" being longtime favorites of mine from this rare LP. The Yamaha DX7-driven melodies and fat chord progressions always take a funky turn, keeping things interesting and unpredictable...I liiike!

This is a good album. Alex definitely is a multi-talented artist , composer and conductor. Another alum of the famed Berklee College of Music.

really nice and in some way unusual to its contemporaries! it's so commited to the FM sounds - especially the bass - and he's really taking all the space with harmony, hat it gets a little chunky with rhythm and weird with the drum mix, but this kind of music it's so focused on getting arrangement and mixing as tight as possible that to listen to an album than goes different (even if that wasn't the intention) feels SO good.
