I'm about to be doing the same build so it's nice to beat the info into my brain to make sure i get it right or don't run into things like the dip stick! Good video!

"lots of little last minute things." Yep. And the difference between a good build and a cheap and dirty build is these details.

Awesome build! Can’t wait to see what it puts down at the dyno. Morgan Intl back up and running?

Yes. Morgan Intl back to work!

Carl, I have a quick question, where would you set piston to head clearance with Scat forged I beam rod, 4.040 bore . iron block and 2618 wiseco forged pistons? my piston measured .006 in the hole, thanks! That oil pan design looks well thought out!

I would try to get 0.040" for a safe clearance with the less sturdy Scat rod. so a 0.034" gasket will work or certainly even safer with the 0.039" FelPro 1040 gasket.

I really think you should add a little more clearance to that dipstick tube a little more. With vibration and cornering you will eventually wear both the tube and the main cap bolt. It’s just extra metal that doesn’t need to be in the engine especially near the bearings which just love to pull metal in and cause havoc. Just my 2 cents as another builder and enthusiast. Otherwise great. Build and I can tell you planned out the build.

thanks for the tip/advise. So you think the tube and cap touching may vibrate ? I never thought of that until you mentioned it. Good advise. thanks.

@@EllweinEngines yeah, I’ve ran into it this before lol. It didn’t really hurt the cap at all. But it did slowly wear down and I kept finding small amounts of shiny smh. I thought cause it was a completely new build it was just things bedding in and after the 3rd oil change with still finding small amounts I pulled the pan and realized that it was the tube rubbing. It was a small amount. But with the bearings right there it’s gamble. I didn’t notice anything in the bearings and since it’s been solid! But definitely give it some space if possible or angle cut it and deburr again. It’s a pain but worth it!

I have a question. My son bought a 1997 Trans Am and guy that sold us the car didn't have the cam card nor did he know that spec's. The cam had this information on the cam: BSPRC4, L7696.07, and 41615Y scribed on the end of the cam. I googled all of the information and nothing comes up. Do you know what cam or what manufacture the cam is?
@EllweinEngines5 ай бұрын
so sorry but I do not have a clue to what the cam may be. Possibly stock cam numbers from GM . If it were aftermarket you sometimes see the duration scribed on the end of the cam.
