Brian Blush, of The Refreshments, gave me his signed guitar pick, after a show, at The White Rabbit, in San Antonio. Those guys put on a great show. Brian's guitar playing was out of this world good. Of course, everyone was requesting the KOTH theme. They played it, but it has its own pace, and tone. It definitely has a "driving music" feel, and then moves to a Ska/Polka bridge, then repeats...super abrupt finish. I'd say it was not really emblematic of their overall sound, but sounds good wearing overalls. Yup.

In many ways King of the Hill was the animated Andy Griffith show. The humor was based on character and slice of life type of humor and It wasn't afraid to have real moments in it. also it was something you can actually watch with your family. It was adult but not over the top language udity\sex\violence etc. so even if your kids didn't get the humor they weren't watching something you'd be embarrassed for them to see

For me, it’s the same reason I’ve rewatched Napoleon Dynamite so many times. The world is real, the characters are real but just ridiculous enough to be entertaining, and it feels like home (the late 90s/early 2000s) you can see in the furniture and architecture the blend of the 70s/80s/90s all coming together to form this style that is hard to recreate yet is unmistakable. It’s this weird kind of nostalgia where you didn’t have to have the firsthand experience to feel nostalgic for it. It’s Americana.

This show is special in it's own way. You have shows like Family guy, Robot Chicken, The Simpsons, American Dad, etc. These shows complete the whole adult-like immaturity of it all, while King of the Hill does it in a way where it's funny but in realities actual view. You don't see characters like Hank die 24/7 just to get a cheap laugh out of it all. Instead, it's stuff like gossip, drama, Hillbilly drama, and adult reality problems (slightly making fun of it in the process) that makes the show funnier. Whenever I say, "Oh yeah! Well my favorite show is King of the Hill," people will make a laugh for whatever reason. When you say, "Oh, I like Family Guy! (not saying anything's wrong with that, nor is the show dumb). Many individuals wouldn't care all that much.

King of the hill was the best animated series on TV, I watch the reruns on Adult Swim everyday. With the exception of Bob's Bergers, the new animated shows focus on being as vulgar, and dirty as they can get away with. I read the reason it was canceled was that the audience was changing, but I think the entertainment industry is wanting to change the audience.

@@salahareikat8610 The show got cancelled/ended mainly because I think the length was beginning to get on everyone. As much as Mike Judge loved the show, he clearly wanted to end it a few years earlier and didn't follow through with it. Animation isn't just a good job, but it's also good job security for a while, even after a successful show ends. Brittany Murphy actually died after the show had ended though, it wasn't planned ahead for it due to it happening rather suddenly. As for The Cleveland Show, I've yet to find a solid factor into its existence cancelling King of the Hill. Mike Judge initially moved to ABC for The Goode Family, but I think he finally found another big break with Silicon Valley on HBO, as well as his animated documentary series Tales from the Tour Bus on Cinemax. Jim Dauterive, who worked on KOTH, continued on Fox to develop Bob's Burgers with Loren Bouchard, which really helped cement the idea that another animated series with a goofy family could be more lovable than vulgar, even if its first season suggests otherwise. Hoping the upcoming Fox animated shows can break the curse that Fox has had for the last eight years, everything getting cancelled after one season, or in Murder Police's case, cancelling it before the first season aired, leaving thirteen episodes fully produced and locked in a vault somewhere.

King of the Hill is one of those shows where you are glad they ended it, as to not make it jump the shark like The Simpsons or Family Guy, but still want more of it. I honestly never got tired of it, and I watch it religiously on Adult Swim. KOTH and American Dad.

I agree, but I still wish they would have done just one more season.

There needs to be a king of the hill movie. Idk how they would do it but if anyone can its Mike Judge.
