something ive wondered about having a dual purpose vehicle would be to utilize air springs like trucks do for towing to stiffen things up when on track. I wonder if you could fab up a sort of clip on air diverter for the brakes to help with the fade you mentioned? it could also give you a chance to mess around with aero components.

Excellent second run! That thing is fast! Along with your skills, those tires and rims really helped out. I'm getting the itch, and when I eliminate some other priorities, I'm definitely moving on to one of these! I bought your plans quite a while back and that's about as far as I made it. 😂 Question: Are you allowed to have a windshield? Would that make a difference?

I'll admit it... I cheated. I found a go cart on marketplace for 400 and messaged them saying I'd like to look at it, but my budget was more like a hundred. Told them that just to not waste anyone's time. Went over looked at it and was like wtf this isn't a go kart it's a little side by side of something. Shit I could put a motorcycle engine on this thing! Then I walked around it to see the profile and realized it has like a 4 foot extended swingarm with a GSXR motor in the frame welded on it! It doesn't need to be this long and I hate extended swingarms in general so I'm going to shorten it and get rid of the moto frame. I can't wait after watching yours this is going to be so freaking fun! (Assuming I can get the motor running. It was sitting outside with the air box off. It definitely got some water in it...) But hey great vid! Let me know when you get your all kart track day set up and I'll make something work in this thing!

Dude, way to go, not bad for the first time. The orange cones at the turns mark the apex, so you need to work on your racing line. I do think the brakes are going to become a problem if you already feel fade. You were slowing and braking way too soon before the turn after the long straight. I think you will be surprised at how late you can brake on that turn, and all the others. New brakes will be a must. Anyone can go fast on the straight, but it takes a long time to master a late brake and then nail a racing line, Not to mention that when you actually start racing, you won't always have a natural racing line. Stick with that engine until you master the cart as is, and save some money for the brakes. Enough Trolling, I think you definitely have the balls, and the machine to get that lap time down quite a bit. Was that the fastest lap time for the day, or was that the track record time? They don't need a new lap time category, they just need to attract faster cars or carts. Maybe try some autocross also. I have been subscribed to your channel for quite a long time now, and have enjoyed them all. I think you have proven the concept, you've got me thinking! Asphalt on Saturday, and dirt on Sunday.
@KJRaycing Жыл бұрын
I used the cone to mark the start/finish just for the video because I couldn’t get any clean laps from passing cars. Should have explained it better. And I know the car can drive deeper into corners and I know there are a lot of better drivers than me. I’m going to learn the track and learn my car before going 100% because I’m not an idiot. The brakes did just fine on 431 turns and I had a little brake fade on one of them, and I’m sure it’s because I was coming up on someone and rode the brakes too long to match speed instead of “corner braking”. I should have explained all of this in the video but then it’s just me rambling and explaining myself. Thank you for being a long time follower, you should know by now I have a scientific and methodical approach to nearly everything and I’m just posting my experiences. I’m sorry if you are disappointed, I’m just a dude in a garage 🤓.

@@KJRaycingYou did great. It's wise of you to not bite off to much to fast. Sneaking up on it is wat better than overdriving and getting hurt or at the very least trashing a good machine. I've won several track championships TT a flat Tracking a quad and the worst people to race with are the ones with balls bigger than brains. May I suggest better brake pads for minimal fading at a low cost. Oh and a newer 600 like a R6 or 600RR with a few upgrades from the mini sprint suppliers may be just the ticket!
@jimhewitt1273 Жыл бұрын
@@KJRaycingNot disappointed in the least. I have enjoyed all the time I have spent watching you develop your machine, and I will enjoy watching you developing your driving skills. Can't wait to see you and your machine rip. The cones I was talking about are the ones at each turn marking the apex of each turn. Hit those and watch the seconds drip away. Keep up the good work.

Man, this looks like so much fun -- you mentioned that you didn't do much to change the suspension from dirt to track; did you swap springs? The shock body doesn't look like it would have much adjustment to raise the cart back up, but maybe I'm looking at it wrong. Either way, that's a hell of an accomplishment to have such a versatile rig. Building a small bike-engined car is on my short list of projects, but we don't have much in the way of trail riding in coastal SC. Still, videos like this about have me convinced to build a VF-1 or VF-2 and keep a different set of coilovers to swap on for dirt roads and stuff.

I had a 99 CBR900 .. and my buddy bought a 2004 R1 (1000cc fuel injected) and the difference in power was bonkers. 1000cc is the way to go for sure. A 1000cc GSXR would be my number one choice-- next would be an R1, zx10 or CBR1000.. any one of these is a killer choice for an engine.. especially if you can find a wrecked bike and get it for cheap.

@@vicman440 Rode it.. I found that bike for him.. It had all new plastics white and blue.. Was in immaculate shape-- only 2400 dollens. This was about 10 years ago. He had a bunch of kids and sold it... It even had some aftermarket shift computer that let you shift without using the clutch.. So you could just peg it wide open and shift to your next gear, and it would very precisely cut off ignition just for enough time to let it shift cleanly. Crazy fast for racing-- because you could just slam through the gears and never let off the throttle; if you could keep the front tire down. I rode it quite a few times-- it was an insane setup if you had the ballz to push it to the limit.
