So far what I have learned is all you Asuka players have to stare at your decklists at all times or the world implodes.

Indeed 😂 I can't emphasize enough the feelings of distress, anxiety, and even claustrophobia that emerge when you take a look at an empty hand with no mana, all while a gorilla on the other side of the screen is coming for your ass 😱

@@NBSilentShadowAn empty hand with full mana is better than a full hand of no mana or any other mix in between. Its why i prefer the mana card options on deck 3. I practice going through a match with nothing but my normals and mana regen so that when things do hit the fan im not defenseless.

What you feed your eyes is very important. I think asukas greatest double edged sword though is that if your opponent doesnt feed themselves the same visual information on asukas deck they will get stomped. What asuka "could" do changes and the threat of holding a powerful spell that changes an opponents behavior is great. It stresses the opponent out but at the same time a good chunk of asuka players will hard tunnel vision and forget about normals,,, spacing,,,, maybe even an integral habit the opponent is doing because you're too busy playing yugioh at full screen or off every hard knockdown.

@@mirror2922 Since I'm just starting out, it's taking me a lot of time to process which spell got drawn and then recall what I can do with it, and I'm just sticking to TC1 for now, until I build the habit of Chant>Bookmark>Charge Mana, and when to do it. I'm also trying to get the hang of not discarding useful spells when I actually want to cast them 😅 Also, the fact that the spell list isn't mirrored for P2 side is messing me up pretty hard NGL.

Absolutely correct.

The most honest answer I can give is that my eyes are on my opponent's character, occasionally I look at their health bar, and I forget to look at the super meter until I get supered, or in some cases, I win a round with full meter.

Woah crazy seeing a mod I made in a video haha. I've returned to strive recently after taking a break from it and I've caught myself doing this. Really good video about something people dont think to talk about that much. Good stuff!!

Yo! You made the pride Anji???? Thank you so much. Love getting to use a mod that not only looks good, but keeps all the bigots and cowards away from my online spaces.

That funny initial question on the Xrd training mode screen just stays in my head. "How do I look at the screen?" And it has been the best question I have kept asking myself every time.

I'm at the point where I notice when I'm not looking at the right place. This was a great video!

This is an incredibly important video, I constantly ask myself what tf do I look at in a ton of high execution games. I pay more attention to the middle of my opponent and trust my periphery to feed my eyeballs what I need (once I learn what I can do)
@p2ladoo134 Жыл бұрын
You know, i realized this recently, but when im throwing items midscreen as faust, all I am doing is staring at myself to determine what i get, and that allows opponents to get a jump in on me, so now I am trying harder to both pay attention to what I get and what they are doing and respond accordingly, this thumbnail made me think about it.

I appreciate you putting this out there in a bit more of a comprehensive form than the last time I remember you talking about this, witch was like over a decade ago, nothing but love, iAD, Venom

I've always wondered where to look while playing fighting games. I always get lost paying attention to multiple meters, my opponent, my spacing, etc. Thanks for the video!

I'll be honest, I've started picking up Asuka two days ago and the only thing I'm looking at are the spell cards and mana gauge... I can't even afford to look at my own character let alone what my opponent is doing 😅

Good to note. Because I rarely look at my opponents compared to the character I am playing.

Just answering your question in the first 30 seconds before watching the whole thing. I obviously don't know exactly where I'm looking at 100 percent of the time, but I'd imagine if I'm playing a character I'm already familiar with it's a pretty even split between my own character and my opponent's, but if I'm trying to do a new thing with said character that I'm not comfortable with, like using a 3 frame 5K that I'm not used to having, I think I have to look at my character while it's happening the first five or ten times I do it. I don't know why I do it, but I'll catch myself watching the character just to visually confirm the action I guess. When I started playing Chaos a while ago I was watching him the entire time I was trying to do his zoning strings, not looking at resources or my opponent, and that would often get me hit by something I should've noticed was coming if I was actually looking at the opponent, which is probably the only reason I've realized I do this. I did in fact find myself doing it when I was learning to use 5K as Sol, but it was for mashing out of pressure so the same issues didn't arise in neutral.

Hmm even after being told once by someone to look at the opponent instead of my character. Or to look at the entire screen if possible (makes sense as Jack-O'). Then when I thought about it I realised that I switch around constantly depending on the situation subconsciously. Although there's still much to do as I am not aware of opponent's meter or burst as I should be (ie not at all unless I consciously think to glance over)
@berna3089 Жыл бұрын
I started out in fighting games about a year ago, but as the time went by I realized I paid way more attention to my oponent's character since I thought keeping track of their actions would be more useful after getting used to my character, guess I was right on that lol. Another thing I need to get used to is to pay attention to, well, everything else, especially the bars and my oponent's behavior. Something I've been thinking about for a while, and I am starting to think picking up on those is quite hard to me, either because I am just not used to it or because my brain shuts off midgame (and I am almost certain that's not the case but it does mean I am lacking in terms of mindfulness).

Used to play StarCraft2 I tend to almost always keep in check the resources, so... every time before starting an offensive I look at burst gauge and metter (on both) so I know the posibilities from myself going into it and my enemy defending. On every knockdown I specially consider reversal Supers (Ram, Testament) or DPs (Sol, Chip, Ky). Before bursting I quickly try to do the math on my head as if I should burst or not (so I don't get baited and I don't waste it). Of course sometimes the panic gets me and I burst when I shouldn't which is determined by my health bar and combo starter I am getting hit with. The most annoying situations are vs Happy Chaos and Asuka right now... since I don't care a lot about Jacko, Sin, Goldey, Zato, Nago and their specific bar mechanics because they are kind of easy to follow. However Happy Chaos and Asuka are super annoying and they changes so drastically it is hard to keep an eye on it.

most character look at opponent + metres imo your character is kinda side of your eye kind of focus asuka you look at asuka and your bars, the opponent doesnt exist in this single player game
