Trimming my ends was a game changer. Once you get those ends good, you can go a while if you keep them moisturized & smooth.

Exactly! For me, if I keep up with my ends I can retain most of my length. We all get lazy and side tracked, but it if I notice that I start to get lazy, I just wrap my hair up during the day and then use my bonnet at night. keeping them moisturized is very important as well, that where people get it wrong with protective styling. Thank you so much for watching Demi.

When I was a kid, my mum forced me to sleep with a bonnet and I hated it so much but as I grew up, I noticed that it saves me a lot of time in the morning as my hair is already tangle free 🥰🥰🥰

Hello! Protective styling isn’t for everyone. At this point I don’t have the time to comb my hair every day lol , I wouldn’t be able to work my assignments, but as long as you are keeping up with your ends and tending to your tresses I love it. There are so many many ways to take care of our hair. Thank you so much for watching Dani!

Trimming is always something I’m quick to do, the problem though was keeping my hair moisturized/conditioned, since I’m a lazy natural. I solved that problem with grease and water(only), now my hair is thicker, softer, stronger than ever

This is the first year I haven't trimmed my hair, I have always had split ends 😩 and my beauty school teacher said it was probably just genic 😐. Anyway, in order for me to retain length while having split ends has always been with braids ( instead of twists) with flaxseed gel or creams. You have to keep those ends protected, moisturized, and off of your clothes. I'm currently at 22 inches with split ends, so hang in there ladies and follow the tips in this video 👏🏾❤️🌈😘!

Hello Elexus Loves Her Life! Thank you so much for watching! Congratulations on 22 inches and length retention. I know split ends and fairy knots are the Bain of our existence and I know everyone is different and different methods work for different people, as long as you are able to retain and keep your ends in check! When I started wearing mini twists habitually I would dip my ends in melted coco butter lol I wanted to make sure they coated so if they did brush against my clothing the coco butter would be the first to go. Then I got so paranoid lol I just started wearing them in a bun

I’ve kept my hair in a silk wrap of some kind at night for my entire life. It makes a huge difference. Beautiful hair is protected hair. My hairdresser taught me not to touch my hair. Also there are hair band holders that are very soft fabrics, flexible and larger than the ones that you showed, think I bought mine from Target. Great tips for all hair types, my type is low porosity, mixed 2c - 3b with a little 3c. You are beautiful, keep up the good work!

i literally swear by mini twists, i hope to see a similar to length as you currently have before the end of this year. When I get tired of my shoulder length twists I install marley twists, passion twists or faux locs. I like to use a fenugreek and aloe vera spray nightly, and I mist my scalp with different oils I make...between styles I wash and do a protein treatment. I might wear my hair blow dried for a week or two and then right back into a protective style. This is my new routine and I will likely never change. I am over daily natural hair styling, I like mini twists because they mimic loose hair but its totally protected!
@KlassicallyKept
@KlassicallyKept 3 жыл бұрын
Exactly! I rarely "do" my hair every single day these days, especially since this assignment is from home. I love your haircare regime, simple and easy. I loooove fenugreek but my husband ( I smiled when I said that, we got married Sunday )is allergic lol. I love aloe I use the plant and the juice. As far as blow drying is concerned I do that 1-2 a year and then one of those times I will straighten my hair so I can do areal trim/cut.

Yes, indeed! Becoming a "lazy natural" is what allowed me to retain the most length... and knowing that I was being "lazy" yet careful allowed me to be more patient and not do constant length checks which can ultimately lead to an excessive amount of damage and frustration as well.

@amilya4u304

@@KlassicallyKept @Klassically Kept No doubt about it! That is a large portion of the science behind "protective styling" because your hands are out of your hair. I found that I was able to retain just as much length with my hair in braids as I was with stretching a blowout over 2 weeks to a month just by not constantly touching my hair. Our hair wants to be left alone. Constant touching equals manipulation, period. I'm glad you're emphasizing the importance of this matter.

In tip 3 you mentioned you will "re-gel" your hair when needed, but I don't understand where that came in because b4 that u said you just spray your hair with the water aloe and avocado oil and use slmond jai. You never mentioned gel anywhere in the video b4 that point when you say that you re-gel certain twists that have come undone ---so am a little confused .... In order to RE-gel you have to have put gel in first place, but did not see that discussed gel previously. Confused! Likely bc I cant find a healthy gel that works for my hair without breakage. 😊❤

I just can't leave my hair in bantu knots like some people wear braids. I think your hair needs to be combed and redone. I have seen people have braids in 6 weeks or more, and when they take their hair down they're combing out clumps of hair. No, I can't do that to my hair. I wouldn't let my girls hair be braided up 6 weeks. I would take their hair down on the 3rd day comb it and rebraid it.
