@@girlbye3715 You clearly don't know what you are talking about. She was NEVER gimmicky or mainstream, which is part of the reason she isn't as celebrated today as she should be. Yes, she attained success in the mainstream, but she ALWAYS remained a good intelligent girl from Park Slope.

Foxy was born 9/6/78, so she was 17 when she made her debut on record on LL’s “I Shot Ya” remix at the end of ’95. She’d started performing a few years earlier though under the name Queen Nefertiti. There’s some very brief footage online of her on stage at the Lyricists Lounge in NYC. She mentions being 14 in her rhymes during the clip I saw.

Beatwize6 I'm surprised because she spreads with so much slang in her music. Don't be offensive 😐 it's nothing with where she from and how she looks and how she raps with so much slang I'm surprised she doesn't use that slang in real life.
8 жыл бұрын
Yeah, well, a lot of us do the same thing, slang is for the hood and for those of us who can relate and grew up around one another....all except the true ignoramuses. But what you did was stereo type without realizing it. Usually, white people say and do that to blacks; think that every black person is ill spoken or uneducated. Remember what they said about Obama whenever he was giving his speech? "he's so articulate!" So freakin what...what did they expect. Case closed.
@dallisvon8 жыл бұрын
Coming from black women I would think it'll be stereotypical but I never meant it that way. Most New York rappers have very strong accents and dialects that is hard to understand them. (Method Man. Biggie, Nicki Minaj (Somewhat) , Jay Z) or (Robert De Niro, Donald Trump, Alicia Keys) . By this I conclude due to this I thought she would have a very strong accent especially w/ Jay mentoring her and not be so well-spoken (speak clearly). It has nothing w/ her being black just from New York.No offense to Foxy. I'm a complete fan of hers (mind you this is my first time hearing her speak). So chill w/ me stereotyping because I was not meaning to do that.
