FOX Sports’ lead college football analyst Joel Klatt ranks his Top 5 Pass Catchers (Wide Receivers & Tight Ends) in the 2024 NFL Draft. Klatt reveals how he ranks the top Wide Receivers in the draft including Ohio State’s Marvin Harrison Jr., LSU’s Malik Nabers and Washington’s Rome Odunze. He also makes the case for Georgia Tight End Brock Bowers to be ranked above many of the top Wide Receivers in the Draft and points out why a dominant player at his position is more valuable than a top wideout. Klatt also considers how the depth at the Wide Receiver position in this Draft class will affect teams’ decision making on Draft Day.

I can't believe that they aren't "in the game" NCAA style like when selecting certain Big10 matchups or whatever it should be just one more option. The recent NFL has a lot of great TE's playing the game, contributing to large parts of their respective teams offense. Lot's of OC's putting these guys to work catching over the middle or in the flats. There have been quite a few good rookie TE's that are having an early impact.

Bowers was in the discussion for best player in college football until he suffered a mid-season injury. He’s legit. It will be interesting to see what Harbaugh wants to do …. From my Michigan fan POV, it might be hard to pass on OLine if Alt or Fashanu is an elite OT prospect. Harbaugh loves to win in the trenches. It’s the boring idea when compared to drafting Bowers, but it’s part of the reason my Lions found success.

The best use of Herbert is having a WR down-field. I'd say Nabers is a better fit for those of us wanting to finally see Herbert show off that arm. This *could be* a great year for the Chargers do trade away for now. Lots of o-line talent. But it wouldn't be enough for a team in the same division as you-know-who. Still, I have a weird feeling they might.

Joel, I am genuinely happy that that I found you here on KZbin. For me, the NFL Draft is another fantastic form of escapism (along with music, Fantasy Football, Netflix, etc.), and year after year, I lose myself (happily, blissfully) in the Draft. The drama with the kids & their families, the unexpected trades, the ramifications for the teams that draft the players, it's just awesome. Well, now, I've also found you and your channel - and in just the past 2 weeks or so, you've given me a lot more to digest and contemplate. Thank you, sir. It also speaks to the shortage at the LB position in the NFL. The shift to smaller speedier edge and LB has led to mismatches from talented TE’s to really make an impact. As a Seattle fan, it was extremely telling that JSN basically had nothing good to say about our old OC and I felt the same watching that offense; boring predictable and so far outclassed in their division compared to SF or LAR.

The fact Nabers is ranked 4th and he broke records at LSU where they have had numerous top WRs in the last 10 years is insane. I think between him and Odunze its just gonna be what does your team need more? The physical shifty guy or the big receiver? Like Bears for example already have DJ Moore they should go for Odunze if they're both available. But if you already have a big guy then go get Nabers. If you don't have either then do deeper research into them. Probably can't go wrong with either.

Then it got closer, and ND is always overrated and overhyped. OSU fans didn’t realize how good Stroud was and he still couldn’t beat Michigan. 16:00 - In my opinion, it’s not that JSN is a bad fit in Seattle, it’s he was a WR3 to start the year and coming off a broken wrist in the pre season with a very, very sub par OC in Shane Waldron. I’d argue JSN grew into WR2 by the end of the season over Tyler Lockett. Puka got the chance to be WR1 from day one with Kupp being hurt and WR2 when Kupp came back, with much better passing game coordination under Sean McVay.

If he does lack in that area for an outside WR, could he be utilized in a similar way as a Brock Bowers or does that not work because of where he lines up? 4. Harrison 5. Bowers 6. Odunze 8. Nabers Can't see any way the Falcons will be able to resist taking one of these WRs given how their last few drafts have gone. If they sign a QB, trade for Fields, or are unable to move up, they 100% take whichever of these names is still on the board. I don't see any world where the Falcons take Dallas Turner unless all of these guys are off the board by 8, which is unlikely barring massive trades.

That’s absurd to say WRs don’t win super-bowls. There’s a reason teams trade for WRs like AJ Brown, Tyreek Hill, Stefon Diggs, and they change the trajectory of the franchise. Outside of Kelce, who is lucky to play with Mahomes, what tight end is winning superbowls? We just saw Kupp and Jamar chase 2 years ago. We saw Devonta and AJ brown last year, we Saw Mike Evans Godwin AB 3 years prior. Etc etc. you need these playmakers. You can’t use Patrick Mahomes and Tom Brady as a barometer, they’ll win with a left tackle at TE.

I get for Bowers, it's more so need, but he should still be drafted before a lot of these guys. No offense to Nabers, he's a good player and not knocking him. I just think those top 3 are above anyone else in this draft. Again, this isn't saying he shouldn't be drafted high. Just think he should be drafted after those top 3, along with any other WR or TE, in this draft. Rome isn't getting enough love. If I'm a team, take Rome, and sneak back into the 1st for Penix. If you can match up a QB and WR from college that was actually prolific, a la Burrow and Chase, you pair them up in the pros. It just makes too much sense.

Man, Klatt was really glazing Bowers. He’s great but I refuse to believe he’s more valuable than Nabers. Nabers was the best pass catcher I watched this year - better than Harrison, Bowers, and Odunze. Should have won the Biletnikoff

Joel doesn’t watch LSU. It is obvious by his Heisman choice. Honestly, I could see Bowers being the being the first to go.
@broq9194
@broq9194 2 ай бұрын
It makes sense to say that Bowers "might" be more valuable than a guy like Nabors only because super pass catching tight ends are more rare and possibly more valuable than super receivers, and these guys lead to superbowls = Gronk, Jimmy Graham, Kittle, Kelsey, Shannon Sharpe, etc. Impossible to have a linebacker guard these guys, and they give safeties big problems too.

@@amyswenson1706 you guys are so spoiled with QB that just being good is not good. Yeah, Jayden was very dynamic, but your comment is a total cop out. Both LSU receivers know how to get separation so they are not catching contested balls. Nabers is elite at all facets and positions of being a WR and his ability to get Yac was insane. Watch his highlights and watch MHJ. MHJ might be a more athletic catcher, but Nabors is a more polished skilled player.

Curious about thoughts on paying athletes like a job. Back in 2002, we thought this would happen sooner…and it seems like it’s inevitable now. In D3 we couldn’t have jobs, nor did we have time. I brought up multiple times to just give us a lowly $15 a day to practice and lift. I went to a national champion school who easily could afford this. I ended up not playing because I hated being poor. I didn’t come from a family with money and just that little bit would’ve changed a lot.

There's been a few TE's who were highly regarded coming out the last few years (Dalton Kimcaid, Trey McBride, Kyle Pitts, Cole Kmet, TJ Hockenson, Dallas Goedert, etc). I think there may be some credence for why TE's are devalued as an early first round pick

Being a husky fan I’m praying he stays in Seattle however a bad OL will be the death of MPJ. If he ends up on a team that’s rebuilding it’ll be a rough start but if he ends up on a team that’s an arm away from being contenders he’s gonna be a huge problem for defenses hes got one if not the most snap in his release of the ball

Chicago has a shot at getting both MHJ and Brock Bowers. They could easily trade down the No. 1 and trade up the No. 9 to pull it off. Getting a new QB is just maintaining the status quo. Grabbing these 2 guys and shoring up the O-line will at least make them a 9 win team. If the QB play is still bad you got a stacked QB class again the next draft and he’ll be coming into a way better situation then any QB would this draft.
