its amazing how 2D animation can still look 3D with the right type of lighting. amazing!

I still wonder ever anyone's gonna try to replicate KLAS or if there will be a publicly available version of it someday.
@TheBetterGamer3 жыл бұрын
You mean the lighting techniques? Those are easy to replicate in any animation program because they're just vectors being manipulated over time.
@cdscissor3 жыл бұрын
@@TheBetterGamer Well, in theory, yes. But there's seems to be more to it than that. For one, it's clearly much more organised, you can see the folders for each part of Jesper. Just animated vectors won't be enough, the characters must be coloured in different layers to make this work. Two, it does seem to have some automatic tracking of some sort, though of course a talented individual is still needed to finesse it. Also, the way these vectors behave seem to resemble masks more than anything else with their vector controls and you can see actually on this footage, you can also adjust the feathering. Speaking of. The feathering doesn't act just fade out, the transition is coloured independently. We don't know if this colour is manually picked or if it's just part of the behaviour of this proprietary tool (As every vector or atleast vector layer seems to colour differently, acting almost as materials would in 3D software except y'know this is 2D.), either way, not as simple as vectors being manipulated overtime. Granted, they did develop a proprietary tool as their solution to a problem, I would expect it to not be so simple.

I hope it too, I'm not an expert animator, but I worked several times in this field and trying to replicate this workflow let's say in after effects or blender (grease pencil) is actually super hard, not only because of the layers but also because having two things overlapped do things well together is a pain in the ass, it always looks a bit janky and offset
@cdscissor3 жыл бұрын
@@ZarkOner Neither of us may not be expert animators, but the shading and colouring is really more the job of the colour department so we're not really expected to understand how to do... This. Let alone from scratch. (You are an awesome graffiti artist tho, subbed 👍)

Cool volumetric lighting, even for a hand-drawn animated movie. That's impossible for an ordinary hand-drawn animation lighting artist to get right.

Hello, This one took roughly 5 hours to do :)
@edsmith94163 жыл бұрын
@@florianaupetit A lot faster than I thought. The software must do a great job of speeding up the lighting task because it's such a manually intensive process.
