Hi Mike. Nice update on keeping things neat and cleared around the property. Good to get the kids involved. Helps you out and gives them some direction. Too many young people today don't have any good direction.

I have mainly rigid battery tools. They finally came out with a chainsaw combi weed trimmer and real blower so me being me I had to have them. I was skeptical to be honest but man I use the crap out of them. I seem to grab the battery powered before the gas because of ease an quieter. Your daughter is growing and the pup 🐶 was cute as a blueberry 🫐. Thanks captain 👨✈️ and crew.

I'm doing a lot of cleanup around my ranch as well. I finally bought my sawmill and I've been collecting some logs from a clearing job going on next door. I've got 24 logs so far and there's a whole lot more on the ground ready for picking. Now I just need the ground to dry up so I can get more. My problem is poison ivy and wild grape vines. I cut them every chance I get, but there are 10s of thousands of them and just me to fight the good fight. Oh well, that's a battle I'm willing to fight.

It's a tough battle for sure. They seem to grow faster than can be cut

I’m glad you are keeping up and have the safety mindset. I went to a regional wildland fire symposium and they said that eastern US fires are burning hotter and we have seen more trees involved than any time in recent history. One of the presenters said we have more invasives (honeysuckle, cedar, and wild roses) that are providing a “ladder” from the common low ground “duff” fires we normally have and into the tree canopy. He said we may be in serious trouble if we get a drought like 1988. We have so much more deadfall in the Ohio Valley due to the emerald ash borer and the dry hurricane Ike years ago. My department has started to educate people on making their properties more wild fire defensible.
@Kleeman19 ай бұрын
I can definitely see that happening. It used to not be able to get to the canopy, but it has a shot now.

I've had that pole saw attachment for about 6 years now. I bought it refurbished for 69 dollars. Worth every penny. I'm not as fond of the powerhead though, but it works well. I do have a gas powerhead for when I'm doing a lot of crap around the yard - takes the same attachments. The old saying of one is none and two is one is my preference. Mike the best thing I've found to deal with briers is a hedge trimmer attachment. The nice thing is you can use the same extension for it. Good video!
@Kleeman19 ай бұрын
I'll have to try that. Appreciate the tip!
@m2hmghb9 ай бұрын
@@Kleeman1 No problem. I've been fighting them for decades. The nice thing about the hedge trimmer attachment is that it doesn't fling the briers around unlike the chainsaw.

We bought Oregon chain by the roll and had good luck with it. We tried a cheaper brand but it didn't last as well and tooth height was inconsistent.
@Kleeman19 ай бұрын
Hmm, tooth height and rakers looked good on this. Didn't have any issue. Oregon is definitely good chain as well. But I don't think it's the exact same quality it used to be.
@jbbuzzable9 ай бұрын
@@Kleeman1 Its been a while, so that is possible. If what you are using works well for a good price, I'd stick with it. I didn't mind sharpening chains, but it's lost time. We would put all chain off the roll to the grinder to take the rakers down a bit since we preferred a more aggressive cut. We would always replace the bar with something about 2 inches shorter than the stock bar to reduce weight and gain more power.

I recently bought the Ryobi in a 14 inch bar. It's great for everyday use. No carbs to rebuild every year no pull starts I pull the trigger and go. It might not be my goto for a full day of cutting logs for firewood but I have big saws for that. Electric weed eaters are the only way to go for me as well. I got a 56 volt Ego from Lowes. Will cut anything my last 10 gas ones would have. If they ran right.
