Nice to see MEANINGFUL useful upgrades taking center stage instead of often weak NCV or transistor testers etc - Klein improved this one in the main fundamental areas of mm function, though for the price I kind of expect to see 4,000 count instead of 2,000 in this day and age, but ok for the DIYer and light user and the build quality is still surprisingly good in this price range especially in the areas of fuse quality & access and input protection devices. Even though the back light is a couple minutes or so, thats still better than some of the frustrating fifteen second ones ive seen, simple on/off at user discretion is still preferred even if it does shorten battery life a bit.

Agreed Mike. This is a very logical upgrade from the MM320. Does the necessary without any frivolous add ons. Audible diode mode would've been sweet. Still for the little $ you're getting very well built Klein Tools dmm with excellent input protection. 👍

The price is not a lot for the properly beefed-up input circuitry and a nice loud beeper. Big question sir: On diode test, does it short beep for both regular PN diode junctions (0.5 to 0.7v) and schottky (0.15 to 0.4v) junctions??
@KeepOnTesting Жыл бұрын
No beeps in the diode test. Just visual indicators. Illuminated / FV drop ..

I actually bought one of these at Home Depot yesterday, C$42, liking it. Another cheap-o meter in my collection! - was the diode and continuity voltage on the MM320 higher? - on the MM325 it is 2.2V - so it won't report on blue or white LEDs, although after watching the video completely, you do mention that.

Excellent review! Klein Tools has really stepped up their game in the release of test equipment in the last few years. I really wanted to like this meter with the input protection and fuse access it offers. I could overlook the 2000 count and battery compartment solution if it had autoranging and true rms. The factory dry switch wouldn't be as big a deal with autoranging, (less switch positions) less guessing at switch position and come on it's 2023, who uses an average responding meter now?
@KeepOnTesting Жыл бұрын
Thx and great points Eric, I agree with your outlook 100% Definitely a downer in the TRMS dept..even the MM600 lacks that feature for some strange reason. Still a worthy dmm at this price point and definitely built to last.Hopefully the next Klein upgrade will address this! 😉
@ericbaker1200 Жыл бұрын
@@KeepOnTesting It is a good price. Klein Tools does offer the mm420, which looks to be the same size, but it has autoranging, true rms, and a 4000 count. I don't know the build quality on it and it runs for about $55 USD.

Cool review ! I bought the AstroAI and Kaiweets multimeters off Amazon to test my guitar speaker cabinet input… I have a 1/4 mono speaker cable connected into a 16ohm input on the speaker cabinet. I connected one lead to the Tip and the other to the sleeve … the readings just bounce all over the place… tried different speaker cables and same thing. I tried both auto range and manual settings for the resistance. I should be getting a reading close to 16ohms… is it just these cheap multimeters ? I also notice on the resistance setting if I just touch the leads the readings bounce all over the place ??? Shouldn’t it read 0 ? I ordered this Klein MM325 and will see if it can get an accurate reading. Maybe it’s just me ???
@KeepOnTesting Жыл бұрын
The Klein should do well! The resistance on the test leads depends on how good the leads are actually made. Most CHEAP-O Multimeters have less than stellar test leads unfortunately. So always a good idea to grab a good set when testing is critical. Btw, when in Resistance mode, if you're not checking anything it should read zero.

Hello sir, I’m speaking (writing) to you from my wildlife channel, rather than my other channel where I followed you and asked questions from. I hope you are well up there, north of the U.S.? I’m needing a replacement for my AstroAI M4K0R, which I use in the field to primary test batteries for our trail cameras and solar panels, overall voltage of power sources, power supplies, and use the continuity function to test wires and cables, etc. I was thinking of getting another Astro Ai, which worked fine, but we seem to be having trouble with their dials getting stupid… having to jiggle them dials to get them to work (making proper contact). So, I thought of looking into a basic meter that’s a little more well built and durable. I’m looking at the UNI-T UT133B meter, as well as this Klein Tools MM325. In your opinion, would you consider both the UNI-T and this Klein upgrades (better) in the durability department, and this Klein better than the UNI-T… primarily their dials holding up a little better? I appreciate your help. Aho! Best wishes, George Silver Hawk
