The Weird World of Spider-Man DS Games...

Fun fact: Spiderman Battle for New York was SUPPOSED to be a comsole game. After the success of Ultimate Spiderman, Activision was going to have Treyarch make Ultimate Spiderman 2. The plot would be a direct sequel and take place during Christmas season, with New York being covered in snow. The second playable character was going to be Green Goblin. Villains like Black Cat, Mysterio and Scorpion who didnt have Ultimate comic counterparts yet were also going to appear. However with Spiderman 3, the game never made it passed the drawing board and was scrapped for the Spiderman 3 games. Battle for New York is pretty much Activision just throwing Ultimate Spiderman fans a bone to chew on. You can also find some concept art online, including a really cool picture of Goblin overlooking the snowy city landscape with glowing Christmas lights, confirming that we'd be able to play as and free roam with him

I remember playing Edge of Time on 3DS back then when I was 13 in 2014. I asked my brother's friend to let me borrow the game, and he let me and I decide to keep it and stole it from him. When it was time to move to a different house. I still kept the game and finished the game in 1 day.

I played web of shadows so much. That game was so stimulating with the amount of combos you could string up. Fun fact: the DS version actually has 2 endings. The classic suit ending, which you need to use good allies in boss fights to help you to unlock. If you rely on green goblin throughout the whole game, youll get the edgy black suit ending

Still to this day getting both Spider-Man 3 and Lego Star Wars 2 on the DS for Christmas is probably my favorite Christmas memory. Both games are pretty terrible but I didn’t know that as a kid lol

Shattered Dimensions on DS might be one of the best games on the console. Not a long game, but it knows what it wants to be and does it well. I was such a disappointed 8-year-old when I got Edge of Time and it was a complete downgrade in every way, I don't think I ever bothered completing it.

I have all of them on the 3DS R4 card and yeah, they’re kind of repetitive when it comes to the game styles. My favorite is ultimate Spider-Man on DS. Put back in the day. As a kid on the DS lite, going back-and-forth from the system to the DS versions were awesome.

thankfully the amazing spiderman on the 3ds is much better than the ds version it is basically all the indoor levels and boss fights from the console version just scaled down to fit on the 3ds and the open world is removed and granted that extra side mode I forget what it is called is kinda annoying but the reward you get for beating it is well worth it at least to me because the game has alternate costumes to use not as many as the console version but still some, you have the default costume, the rami suit, and the costume you get for beating the side mode 100% is the rami black suit and personally to me I was so happy to get this costume because spiderman 3 was my first introduction to the black suit so it will always be special to me

Web of shadows is the one i had. Most of the others i had on wii. Web of shadows ds is my favorite version of the game. It kinda freaked me out as a kid with the environment and seeing the people being taken and turned into symbiotes.

Thank you no time bomb r4 card for letting me play all these DS games. The only one that doesnt start up is Spiderman 2, hard to find a good copy online. Everything else works perfectly. Well as perfect as it can get when you have to use the stylus to attack as spiderman in most of these games. Attacking on the ds should be easy and fun, not stressful.

Sometimes, the cinematic approach isn’t always the best route for a superhero known for comic-style action and camp like Spider-Man. Not only that, but the budget is bloated and unsustainable. The PlayStation Spidey games are alright, but I miss lower-budget superhero games. They gave the developers the freedom to do what they wanted instead being tied to a movie studio’s vision. Also, for the grifters, indie devs are way better at “woke” games than a AAA studio. Suck it! :)

Both games were insanely pozzed, not a single character is even remotely tolerable. It's actually pretty impressive that they made Spider-Man annoying, but Insomniac pulled through. Not too upset that they dialed it up to 11 with Spider-Mid 2, though, the first game was already a pretty brain-dead experience and I wasn't going to buy the sequel anyway.
