He says sizing is 48-64 for the jacket and then says the model is wearing a large? What size is a "large" ?
@Bhg2653 жыл бұрын
Biggest miss IMO is dropping from 17092 AA to now A. Especially with the badlands pro jumping to that insane AAA. Klim’s touring suit lost protection and is now well behind their adv suit which gained protection. A for the road and AAA for the dirt? That’s backwards!

I think I read it was the stretch area under the arm that caused it.
@LayerZeroDesign3 жыл бұрын
Honestly, sometimes getting that rating means a less comfortable, and less usable jacket that in everyday use is actually worse. If it's true that the stretch gortex under the arms is what caused the rating drop, I'm fine with that. How much abrasion resistance does your arm pit need? I'd say flexibility and comfort is more important for your armpit for a touring suit. Not everything can be boiled down to some letter rating. Every point of focus means a concession elsewhere.

I have the prior gen Kodiak jacket & pants & its my go to touring kit. I’ve been in hours long downpours & stayed dry. Airflow is great with all the vents open. It does look like some nice improvements but I agree the puffer jacket is a bit overkill on price. If I need warmth then I’m always taking my heated jacket & if I’m camping then I take my existing cheap puffer jacket. Not for everyone but you’ll know if you are a prime candidate for this sort of kit.

Just got the previous model jacket and pants from revzilla on closeout last month. This is the BEST vented jacket i ever had. I rode into the upper 80's and could feel all the air rushing through with all the vents open. 2 things I didn't like about it are the neck collar is stiff (hoping that loosens up with wear) and the stupid chest pad showing on the one side. I did receive the jacket and noticed the metal "rivet type things" on just one of the side vent's pull tabs were loose and almost off. I was going on a long trip and didnt want to deal with returning the jacket or anything like that. i thought they just squeeze together and tried doing it myself with pliers and bent them. the pull tab seems to be on there pretty well and I called klim. they said they don't have those style anymore cause it's an older jacket. It's not that old! I don't want to have different zipper pull tabs so I'll see how it goes. They also said they could send me different ones and I would have to cut the old one off and void the warranty doing that! That pissed me off. I'm spending almost $1400 on gear and I'm going to lose the warranty cause of a manufacturers defect?! I have ordered thousands in gear from revzilla and never seen a piece of gear that was bad. They should have caught that. It's not a huge deal. it's more the4 principle of the matter. hopefully, it never comes apart.

No, the Kodiak Pants do not included a thermal liner like the Jacket does.

Is offering a D and T variant the Klim policy for other suits?
@patrickmchugh80393 жыл бұрын
It isn't available on too many offers just yet, just given the added cost for manufacturing compared to their demand for it. We originally saw it on the Kodiak when Klim first started selling in Europe as they offered it in both markets. Now that Klim plays more heavily in Europe, maybe that will change.

When I spoke w/a Klim rep back in December about the Kodiak, he mentioned customer feedback as the reason for adding the puffer into the base configuration. Not every dealer carried the puffer w/the old version, so finding the right fit was frustrating. As a prospective buyer, I like what they've done to the jacket and the inclusion of the puffer out of the box. It's a complete solution now.
@patrickmchugh80393 жыл бұрын
Totally understandable why Klim decided to do it. I suppose we just see the amount of riders that want/need a puffer as being less than those that don't, making a $300 price hike a much harder decision. They could have made the Kodiak available in a Puffer or Puffer-free version with the costs differences, and we would've praised them for the option.

@@patrickmchugh8039 Either way it's an excellent jacket with a great warranty.
@cblais193 жыл бұрын
@@patrickmchugh8039 Did the Kodiak ever sell that well for you all though? It's seemed to be a European aimed option (since they still buy sport tourers over there apparently), and the other top end jacket at this price point (Rukka) has a down jacket that seems to be viewed as a value add.
@patrickmchugh80393 жыл бұрын
@@cblais19 It seemed to be pretty popular with customers worldwide, enough at least to continue the line for another edition. I've always enjoyed Klim's split in having a more Touring line led by the Kodiak and a ADV line headlined by the Badlands/Adventure Rally rather than one line that kind of does everything with sacrifices. But hey, if they make it available for Europe they might as well make it available here too.

I have the first Gen in Navy jacket/black pants (the Navy pants were a bit much!). It's a smart looking suit, and a perfect performer. It's not for hot weather, so use your head and buy accordingly. I bought mine just when the new version broke, so I was a little bummed, but when I sat back and looked them both over, I'm glad I bought Gen 1. I dislike the styling of Gen 2, as the reflective pops are now a bit garish, with odd abstract shapes included with the Klim name. I love the subtle branding on the Gen 1, which Klim is NOT known for. I absolutely hate the non-symmetrical vertical stripes, as well as the waist cinch strap (sloppy). The jacket looks busy, not classy. The puffer base layer, as Spurgeon mentioned, is a huge waste. A down puffer compresses under a heavy jacket, losing it's insulating properties. A "puffer" needs to remain puffed - it's how it works! Adding $300 for a down base layer is criminal anyway. I find a simple fleece vest or base layer is plenty under this excellent jacket. If it's really cold don an electric jacket. WINNER! The pants look good, but I prefer the all-black knee leather over the goofy-looking two-tone patch. Either way you go, Klim makes fantastic riding gear, as my closet betrays my preference. As I said, I'm really happy I bought a Gen 1 suit before they were gone.
