So this is my second unboxing and review with the Fives by Klipsch. I decided to revisit them because in the first review I wasn't able to experience them in my own space, now I put it through the gauntlet of music and movies and tested out every input and feature.

I’ve sat with The Fives for six months or so and I think they’re great. I feed them with a Fiio K5 Pro DAC which runs through a JDS EQ and it sounds amazing. For people worried about the sound signature being too “dark”… they are, out the box. I think they need a subwoofer to high pass the bass out of the speaker. Once you’ve dialled the sub in properly, you end up with a really expansive sound stage, great imaging and a much better top end. A recent update to the Klipsch app has added EQ settings now too.

Update: I’ve taken the EQ box out of the chain. It adds too much gain and you get occasional distortion. The Klipsch app’s EQ is good enough to boost the mids a little without clipping.

Is it still the case that you have to reset the eq settings in the app every time the speakers turn on and off again? I heard that on a review and that’s the one thing slightly holding me back

That’s not the case. The app is certainly janky but it keeps the settings. I’ve literally unplugged the speakers from the power source and it keeps the settings.

I bought them about 8 months ago and I think they are worth the 800.00 You can put and rca cable as if you were running a sub and it would cut the bass problem fix those of you that don't like bass. Very engaging beautiful highs and more lows for most it can be turn down via remote or just put a rca cable on the back and say good bye to bass.

Just got my Fives about a week ago. They replace some R-41 PM speakers. I was not unhappy with my r41s but wow what a difference! The fives sounded very detailed and for lack of a better word, "big". I ran them without a sub for the first couple of days. They did sound "dark" at first but when I hooked up the subwoofer, it seemed to lighten up the load on the Fives and they sounded brighter. Also, I suspect that the sub out on these Fives is a bit stronger than the one on my r41s because the sub sounded much more powerful. All in all I'm quite impressed and I understand why these Fives are popular...

The fives have a better crossover point and the drivers work better together than they did in the R-41.

I have those for 3 days. the only way to make them sound precise, clear and not too much bass is to use an equalizer. cut off: 40 Hz -5.5 db, 63Hz -10db, 100Hz -4db. i do not even play around wit higher frequency because i think its really perfect. ANOTHER good thing about the klipsch : with audi oinput digital the soundspeaker automatically turns "on". i really love that feature ! my specc before that was just an(logitech z906 amp with JBL control-THE BEST BUDGED DEAL!). but the klipsch make everything much bigger. even stereo sounds better than 5.1.

I’ve heard it goes well with external DAC (Fosi Q4) since their internal DAC doesn’t cut it to that level.

I grabbed these recently for less than $500, which felt like a no-brainer compared to buying a separate AV receiver and passive bookshelf speakers. Using them as my main TV speakers, which so far so good depending on the source--dialogue could stand to be clearer on some shows--but the bass when listening to music is right now my favorite thing about these.

I recently got a new pair for 329.00 on ebay. Using them with my tv as well and using an rsl speedwoofer 10S mkii with them and it makes a huge difference and takes some of the bass away. Also update with connect app and you get an adjustable eq. Great speakers!

You said with a tone control you can get a great sound. I wasn't sure where tone control would be unless it's coming from an app that has a eq. Is there another tone control more native to the speaker?

One drawback I can think of is they will only allow mono sub. No stereo or ability to connect via high level due to the proprietary speaker connection.

I just spent a few days with the Fives side-by-side the Kanto TUKs. I love my high sparkling notes, so because of Klipsch's reputation for bright speakers I thought I'd prefer them but in fact the Kantos were much more to my taste. The TUK's ATM tweeter made the Fives' top end sound muffled. Possibly other Klipsch speakers have brilliant trebles--maybe you can inform me--but these Fives do not.

@@mykandrew funnily enough i tried em back to back and thought the kanto tuks sounded horrible. Klipsch have a much richer sound but yeah bass can be a bit much. The firmware from november '20 lets you cut the bass more which helps at night time. But plugged into my PC it was easy enough to cut some of the bass with an equalizer. edit: forgot to mention im on my third pair of Klipsch. These have some QC issues. Stuck primary speaker switch, messed up volume knobs, popping noise/audio cutting out.. this particular set atm is not perfect but the volume knob is breaking in. ridiculous

I have the Kanto Tuk's as my computer speakers along with the matching subwoofer.....was debating whether or not to move the system to the TV and use for movies etc.....do you think that set up is enough for a 12 x 15 ft room ? or would it be better to get the fives and would they be enough or the sevens or the nines for my TV speakers and add a 12 inch sub ? ANYONE can respond....great video by the way....thx....cheers from Canada

Bought the fives and theyre great but one issue. The primary left right switch is stuck. I returned the speakers and the new ones i received have the same issue. Anyone else running into this problem?

i bought a pair on amazon and had the same exact thing. actually ended up breaking it thinking it was just a stiff switch. replacement was fine.

I don't believe so, however I havent had these in a long time and they could have updated the software/firmware.

I cannot for the life of me connect to the app to control the eq! The bass is way too much. I have installed the new firmware, updated the app, and yes, I have forgotten the device in settings and paired more times than I can count. The speakers sound great but I can only use them at low volume in my apartment. Has anyone experienced/resolved this issue?

How does this compare to SVS Prime Wireless in terms of Sound?

The Prime Wireless have less bass but a lot more of a balanced sound. It’s not as bright as the Five’s.

I wasn’t listening to it in my environment in my setup. And I hadn’t had too much experience with Klipsch horn tweeters which come to find out are brighter and louder than soft dome and amt.

Lack of room treatments the first time around added to the tinnyness, this time around they were good. I wouldn’t call them the best end all to powered speakers but they’re a great replacement to a soundbar.

My opinion they are ok / not worth the hype for arc hdmi… I have to go at least 70% vol to even get decent vol levels.. My klipsch sixes are better and vol go higher with no distortion..

It's recommended that the source volume be cranked with these. It's like having more voltage on your sub/pre outs. You get less distortion and more volume without having to crank the gain on the amp.

@Vito Casola Tuks are the model. It's made by Kanto. However, if you are in the market I would go with the SVS prime wireless. Check out my video on it.
