Great review. I have been super satisfied with The Nines, especially in the bass, its nice to hear 40hz energy without a sub. The Sevens look like a great speaker as well. Thank you for your work erin, you are the best.

Fantastic video. Sighted bias is a major determinant. An example is how some Bookshelves are more authoritative sounding than some floorstanding or rower speakers but the looks in size can skew people

Perfect review! I got the Sevens and was disappointed with the in room response, which I can hear in many youtube sound testings too. Sound is recessed, no mids and low treble. How did I get it so wrong in the shop. Thank you for confirming my suspicions. Thankfully Klipch gave away a Wiim mini with the speakers, a great gadget, and has a 10 band, and 4 point graphic EQs, took your great advice for EQ correction. You saved me, thank you!!!

Great review. You preferring the nines over the sevens makes sense. The overall sound of the nines might be more full bodied and dispersed because of the larger drivers on the nines.

I wish more people would recognize that some of do like to tailor the sound for our own personal preference! I could take the most "perfect" system in the world and still want to tweak the equalization a bit.

So, I've had a pair of the sevens since July. The one thing I can not stand about these speakers is the compression/limiting. I like to listen to my music loud, I've worked in the music industry and specifically worked with large amounts of PA before where it is now apparent that I have since learned to really enjoy all of my music between 94-98 dB. I also listen to a lot of music that has heavy low frequency energy, which with these speakers can become problematic. Even with external subs connected engaging that high pass filter for the mid-woofer, and at around that listening level which I've found to be -9 to -7 dB in the Klispch connect app (depending on the source), everytime the low frequency content comes back into play the sound from these speakers gets quite noticeably squashed by the digital compressor. I understand it's a trying to protect the speaker, but from what I can hear, woofer stress wise, it seems to be engaging a little early and that these would be able to endure just slightly a little more power. I do not like that I cannot control when and how much the compressor engages. I guess that's what you get when you buy in all in one system, but for the money and my current living space it was hard to go with anything else.

Off Topic - I'm running Morel Virtus Nano Carbon components in my current ride. My first experience with higher end Morel, and I've never heard detail like this in my car. Mid bass is also surprisingly strong, overall a very interesting slim speaker setup. I think this is the second best component set I've every had. The best were some CDT Audio components - I can't remember the model but the woofer was yellow.

Legitimate question: what you are hearing may not be what others heard. do you think there are variations between the same speakers that could mean some perform a little better than other in analysis? Has anyone done this testing before? Eg. Line up 8 of the same speakers and measure them. If they are all the exact same, great! If they have minor variations for whatever reason, then that’s something to talk about. I can’t seem to find anyone who has done that test ever. But we know with cars they often have different power from same models for whatever reasons and even precision instruments often have variations and need calibration.
@OlaJustin
@OlaJustin 11 ай бұрын
There are variations to a degree... that's why studio monitors can be bought in matching pairs. But when it comes to high quality consumer products I dont think it's an audible difference, except for those with perfect symetry in their rooms, lots of sound treatment and some audiophile magical ears that can tell if the speaker cables are on the floor or suspended. ;) Could be wrong though.

Thank you for the honest review, appreciate it. I have a pair of KEF LS50 Wireless II, I enjoyed them very much with vocal and chamber music, the mid's excellent, the high seemed rolled off a bit, and the bottom's missing. Then I bought a pair of Klipsch, good value at $4XX, Overall SQ couldn't match with the KEF, but the bass is punchy (the KEF has none) and really enjoyable for rock and jazz. I am thinking about further extending its bass by adding a sub, maybe a REL T5x? Question: Should I add a sub to the Fives, or upgrade to a Sevens or the Nines instead? Appreciate your kind advice.

I would love a comparison between the three numbers below ten. Me, I hope they do a pair of "The Twelves", or "The NineNines"! :) Use The Fives with the TV. Except for having no clue at what volume I'm at they kick ass... The extra headroom for digging deep with DSP magic do help when watching movies at regular volumes. I do tend to want to bump the midrange for clearer voices though... But voices in movies is always a hit or miss thing... depends on the mix and the daily mood of the mixer it seems. The Fives aint no HiFi experience though. But they are easy to live with... even though they dont tell the Samsung TV at what volume they are at. You get the feel for it. :)

Well done, this is why I've subscribed to you as you tell it like it is. Theyve been pushing the "sevens are better" gimmick since they first came out. I've been saying this since they came out and I bought them, here's the thing, they aren't going to sale as many as the sevens if they don't because their the middle man, an audio guy is going to either go with the best flagship of the group for their needs, or their in a budget and get the fives usually, the sevens are caught in between, so some channels (one in particular and a couple are paid) are trying to push those out there for Klipsch to move em, and guess what...they say get the sevens and add a sub, so there ya go, they would like to move the subs out as well which is why they recommend the sevens usually. The nines are by far the better speaker I believe, and no dub at all needed for me anyway. They have a permanent home here, their probably my favorite pound for pound speakers at the time and versatile and great looking also, just my opinion. Thanks for the good honest content and I think you should have more subscribers.

Did you watch a different video? If you understand the results of the review there is absolutely nothing wrong with the Sevens. Erin prefers the Nines on personal basis and he correlates the reasons why with the measurements but that doesn't take anything away from the Sevens; they are objectively very good and someone could, and many people do prefer them. There is no media conspiracy, they just perform differently which is where the subjectivity comes in. If you are going get anything useful out of technical reviews like this you have to understand where the objective performance aligns with your subjective preference.
@JukeboxAlley
@JukeboxAlley 11 ай бұрын
@@PhillioDoede agreed, the nines wouldn't be ideal for a smaller room or for nearfield, the sevens would be the better candidate for a small room, meaning 10x10 or so, I don't see them being enough for anything over a 14x14, depends on the person and how they listen and what they listen to. I'm sure their great, same tweeter just smaller woofer, I think it would come down to room size always. I like to have the extra grunt though in the low end where they basically get 30-32 Hz easily and the sevens just can't hit low notes like that, so I'd prefer the fuller low end, even at lower volumes, over the 7s.

@@worldspacechina here we go, there's always one...or two that have to go against the grain. Everybody has an opinion, that's just mine, and I know what I've heard. If you want sevens go for the sevens, I'm sure they'll do just fine, there does that make you feel better? People don't want the truth, they want to hear what they want to hear.
@JukeboxAlley
@JukeboxAlley 11 ай бұрын
@@worldspacechina call it a conspiracy or whatever you desire, this game is played how it is. They need to move products, so of course they'd recommend you buy the sevens and and add a sub (so you'll spend more overall) so they can move out subs and sevens so they don't have to put them on clearance, if you don't want a sub, go for the nines, if you like subs then get fives or sevens, that's pretty well what it amounts to. Sounds like you'd enjoy watching Andrew Robinsons videos best, I'm sure he'll tell you what you'd like to hear. He's owned maybe... 30-50 speakers since he started this game, so by all means, don't listen to us guys who have owned 250-300 or maybe more sets over the years, I'm sure we don't know what we're talkin about, your right. You fellas just do you and spend it how you want, nobody can put an opinion or knowledge for others out here anymore, then here come the keyboard warriors to stir up a situation.

@@ErinsAudioCorner I had watched your reviews on the RP8000F II and Linton. Subsequently went out and demo'd those two speakers along with the Polk R700. I bought the Polk Reserves as they had that LARGE speaker sound and presence. Fast forward a few months and I picked demo'd the Klipsch RF7 III.... I'm personally not a fan of the Heresy or Forte (too much horn) but the RF7 III Stole the show for me. Happy owner of the speaker despite what GR research said about it. Something tells me that they would review poorly via your measurements, but they might be something you actually like. As you've mentioned the sevens reviewed relatively well compared to your lack of aural enjoyment. My 2 cents. But the RF7 could be the Klipsch speaker that you actually enjoy!
