It helps that they're good guitar players. Most of the new wave of swedish death metal (aka OSDM revival) players are simple riff dudes. Nothing wrong with that, but needs to be considered. Good players make gear sound good.

Whatever pedal you put in the effects loop will take the place of the "Bottomshaker" channel (i.e. the tone you get when you turn the mix knob all the way anti-clockwise).
