Wow...at the end.....those are real musicians....nothing fabricated. Can you imagine spending an evening with those chaps and their instruments at a house party? The number of songs they know how to play and make up on the spot and laughs you would have? Such a joy to watch and listen to. Jon's voice so brilliant and unique. Trevor is amazing ......Rick so funny and yet so humble about his talent. Just the fact of playing on one of David Bowie's most iconic songs and actually contributing to the arrangement and writing of it. Such virtuosity. Fantastic.
@shannonlucas29803 жыл бұрын
For all the pomp and self indulgence of that genre, Rick Wakeman clearly does not take himself seriously and seems like a down to earth, humble man who enjoys a laugh.....and of course his playing on Life on Mars is absolutely beautiful

Pistols and Yes were on the same label at one point and Wakeman lobbied to get them off. In his autobiography John Lydon described Wakemans music as “Wurlitzer Ice Capades music”.
@newforestpixie52972 жыл бұрын
I must get that book. I have John Lydons’ autobiography in which he tells how his wife ( whom is a decade older than him ) was tour manager for Yes & Wishbone Ash . He also confesses to loving 10ccs’ 1st Album but I can’t tell when he’s being serious. I’m not sure if he believes a lot of what he actually says but he says the right things in my book. 🏴❤️👍
@newforestpixie52972 жыл бұрын
I love Ricks Yes work but the Wives of Henry 8th type stuff I do find a bit frilly. I never knew that Lydon had been interviewed by Tommy Vance during the Pistols’ heyday on London’s’ Capital Radio - he played his favourite music and defied their manager Mc Laren by playing non punk but choosing a variety of music which he’d loved and been influenced by . One or two tracks apparently by prog artists Peter Hammill , Van Der Graff Generator ( Hugh Blanton - great organist )etc Mc Laren was bloody livid allegedly !

Interesting to see Steve and Rick get on so well. That certainly wouldn't have been the case in '77. Didn't Rick have something to do with the Pistols getting dropped from A&M?
@Mrpublicimagelimited6 жыл бұрын
That one's a myth I'm afraid. Apparently Rick had sent a jokey telegram to Derek Green (A&M's UK boss) re. the Pistol's signing, saying something like "I guess we'll all have to start wearing safety pins now?" Malcom McLaren half-read this telegram (upside down) while at a meeting with Green, and the rest is history. I severely doubt Rick was at all bothered by the Pistols joining A&M.

Steve Howe is the REAL Yes guitarist & songwriter, and Alan White is the REAL Yes drummer. ARW would not have much to play without Steves music. Weren't they going to write new Yes music?
