Good resource, one which I kept referring to while I changed out both mine but have to mention a few improvements - [1] The plastic protector escutcheons (gaskets) may not be included in aftermarket handles but should be ordered and installed with them; [2] You will need to purchase four metric washers (M6x18) and four metric hex nuts (M6-1.00); [3] Be sure to lubricate the coiled spring on the handle before install; and [4] It is much easier to use a ratcheting flat or flex head wrench rather than a socket and handle wrench. Also note that door handle widths were slightly wider for 70-75 and at ca. 5.5" for 76-81 models, although some early 76 models were equipped with the older versions but otherwise both versions will fit. And while you're there, lube your power window mechanisms, too.

they are originally flange nuts, very shoddy install.

Thanks for making this post. i was scratching my head this afternoon I'll tell you. Those back nutz are a buggar to get at. Just one note, although it is too late now, there should have been a plastic gasket to weather seal behind the handle to protect from rain intrusion. I guess the PO removed the handle at some time a failed to reinstall the gasket.

Yes, skipping the gasket was as shoddy as skipping the nut.

Debating modifying a car with basic handles like this. Don't think it will be too hard. Just need to change the flat steel on the door panel underneath of the handle the rods might actually work as is. Might have to flip the direction of the push down into more of a pull up by cutting it and bolting it back on as well.

And they are not 10mm nuts, but 6mm. They just use a 10mm socket. Big difference.
