I just Baught one of these and plan to rebuild it also... Are they pretty easy to get parts for?

Hey, just a quick FYI for ya. Can't tell in your vid how dirty or bad your chain was when you were cleaning it, but if that were my bike and I was going through it from stem to stern and really wanted to clean it up to like new cleanliness, I'd remove the entire chain and soak it for an hour or so in a bath of straight (CLEAN/NEW) kerosene. Kerosene won't hurt a thing and doesn't damage O-rings if you happen to have an O-ring type chain. Kerosene is cheap and does a far far better job of cleaning than ANY off the shelf chain cleaners you buy at cycle stores. Soak the chain for awhile then go after it with your GRUNGE BRUSH and you'll see what I'm talking about!! Your chain will be SPOTLESS!!!!!!! I do that once every other year on my GSX-R and am still on the original chain with over 22K on it, and it's still like new to this day!!!!!!
@HeroRR8 жыл бұрын
Great advice, thanks! I'm going to replace the chain most likely and sprockets in the future.
@gunnerneikoify8 жыл бұрын
You chain and sprockets bad???
@HeroRR8 жыл бұрын
Tom Kuhlman Sprockets are down a little bit, they're good for another season, but the chain also has some rust on it as well. I may possibly change up the gearing as well.
@gunnerneikoify8 жыл бұрын
Awww cripes!!!! Leave the gearing alone IMO!!!! She seems to run just fine the way she sits??? She might not like having her gearing messed with!!! Then your speedo/odometer is thrown off messing with the gearing... You planning on doing some hardcore rough trail riding with her or something?? Maybe your speedo/odo won't be screwed up? Think your speedo runs off the front hub assembly if I'm correct??? My 95 KLX 650 was that way.. Either way, I say Pbbbbb on gearing change unless it's a necessity!! It's your bike though, who am I to tell you what to do or not to do.. :) LEAVE THE GEARING ALONE!!!!!!!! LOL LOL LOL LOL..........
@HeroRR8 жыл бұрын
Tom Kuhlman Speedo is on the front wheel, so it won't be messed up if I change the gearing. I haven't really decided yet if I want too. I think it would be fun to experiment with different set ups though. Either way that's way in the future.

Good video, and what more are you gone do with the bike?
@HeroRR8 жыл бұрын
A whole bunch more, I am going to be doing all the maintenance for the bike that needs to be done, re painting the engine, plastics, and just getting her looking nice and clean. Breathing some life into her.

What is that electronic thing next to the air filter you disconnected?
@pirhan8 жыл бұрын
Oh man, I don't know how I missed these in my feed. Excellent, just what I need for my new XT350. If Kelsey is a kickstart, what's the battery for?
@HeroRR8 жыл бұрын
I wanted something that was brand new and more reliable. Plus at night time it is helpful to have the headlight on while you are starting the bike.
@pirhan8 жыл бұрын
Cool. Mine's a kickstart, no battery. I asked about putting one in but the shop said it wasn't worth it for the XT350 but to get a portable battery pack (for charging) and a headlamp.

make sure you check the oil filter too

Yep, oil filter and oil change is coming in the next video.

+HEROrr some stuff on it seems more complicated then the xt350, does this bike have 2 carbs or just one
@HeroRR8 жыл бұрын
airsoftspyguy101 Oh this bike is way simpler than the xt350. It only has 1 carb, which is awesome. The dual carb setup on the xt350 was kinda silly imo.
@Dropbackdurbin_ocs8 жыл бұрын
+HEROrr yeah I'm rebuilding my tt350 which has the exact same engine, we don't want to mess with the carbs lol, they are too complicated
@CentralArkansasHomesteadandOff8 жыл бұрын
+airsoftspyguy101 It could be worse. My 1971 Kawasaki F8 250 (which is a dual sport) has it carb on the side of the crankcase because it's a 2 stroke. Kawasaki decided you would love to have a carb in front of you foot

hi herro so man look i would say that y should do something like motonosity did for the paintjob...go watch his step by step series "convertingva dirtbike to a supermoto"
@HeroRR8 жыл бұрын
Hi, I love that series, it's very educational and interesting. I've been watching all the episodes! I would love to get down to that level and go crazy like he did (I might some day) but for now I am just going to make her look decent (not perfection) and call it a day. lol

I rode a rm 125 for years but bought one of these klrs , mine is a 05 ,ya it took me a little while riding it to get used to it but now love it ,I ride the hell out of it now lol
@Denver1976Man3 жыл бұрын
@@markreiber4457 Yes Once you get used to the KLR250s they are really tough well built bikes The carbs are different but that too once you get used to it is fine. Good Luck..
