It's new demo day, pedal peeps! This is one heck of an awesome fuzz. So if you're looking to put some more dirt into your sonic endeavors, then definitely check this one out, if you get the chance. I especially love its crumbly delicious low-gain tones and punishingly bold shoegaze textures. Can't wait to hear what you think about it. If you dig the demo, then please consider leaving a like, comment or sharing the video with your partners in tone. These gestures go a really long way in helping the channel reach more pedal nerdy people. Thank you for your support. Means a ton to me

LOVED the Microfreak section! I'm a total numpty when it comes to dirt pedals, I'm not subtle at all, I'm all or nothing, turning it all to 11... You have really showed me the value of rolling things back. This pedal is so versatile, a real winner. Another top drawer demo Stefan. The end jam was mind blowing! Great work.
@thepedalzone2 жыл бұрын
Thanks, my friend. Dirt on synths is glorious! Can really unlock some harmonic content that you didn't think was possible to achieve with a synthesizer. And I don't know why, but it's always come more natural to me to dive into the more subtle and low-gain textures of dirt pedals. The Metal Zone was my first dirt pedal, and even that one, I mostly used as a weird overdrive. Playing high-gain tones just never came naturally to me, even though I'm enjoying it more and more for every day that passes.

@thepedalzone2 жыл бұрын
Thanks, man! I'm really happy you liked the demo. And I'm deeply honored to hear that my videos have inspired you to pick up some pedals. Chief Disruptor is very different from the Dead Stag, so you can easily have both. Dead Stag is more grainy and sludgy in its voicing, whereas Chief Disruptor sounds much more like a classic Big Muff. I have both, and to be perfectly honest, I greatly prefer the Chief Disruptor. But that's just my personal context and taste. If you play doomy/sludge metal, then Dead Stag is a great fit. I prefer clarity though, and Chief Disruptor has that in spades.

Wow what a cool new pedal. KMA always killing it. Great demo as always. Would you recommend this or the KMA Logan for post-rock? Like to limit my number of dirty pedals if possible XD
@thepedalzone2 жыл бұрын
Cheers, man! Yeah, this pedal is immense. I love it! Both Logan and Chief Disruptor are great for post-rock. It all depends on what you're looking to achieve. If you want to go like epic Mogwai wall-of-sound then Chief Disruptor, if you want a more chimey tone a la Explosions in the Sky, then Logan. But to be honest, they would be the perfect post-rock pair, where Logan handles the chimey low gain tones and Chief Disruptor engages the thick sustaining tremolo-picked leads and heavy walls of distortion.

Hizumitas is instant bold and all-encompassing big muff tone, whereas Chief Disruptor holds a way more nuanced spectrum of dirt sounds. That sounds incredible on synth! What do you think, what is the story, that the graphic is conveying us?
@thepedalzone2 жыл бұрын
Happy you enjoyed it. Fuzz can really bring out some cool harmonics when used with synths, and this one is particularly rad at it, since you can also retain the clarity of the original synth sound with the clean blend. Every KMA has a story tied to it through the graphics. That story is always told on their website. So I recommend you go and check out the product page for the Chief Disruptor on the KMA Mahcines website for the full story.

Hi, I was considering adding another dirt after my early chain reverb. I already have the Logan wich I love. The mid engage switch is cool for shaping tone. I have a hard time choosing btwn this one and the Wurm 2. For post rock ambiant, shoegaze, wall of sound wich one works best ? I feel like the wurm is probably higher gain and harsher. Like an HM2 is compared to a muff. Im not sure I need that much gain and top end. P.s: your beard looks really good on this vidéo.
@thepedalzone Жыл бұрын
Both Wurm2 and Chief Disruptor are great for those genres. I've used both excessively on my band board. When it comes to gain range, I wouldn't say Wurm2 has more gain. Just has a different gain character. A bit more raspy and gnarly, whereas Chief Disruptor is a bit more smooth. The gain sweep is very different on the two pedals though. Like the OG HM-2, the Wurm2 goes from 0 to pure hell-fire really quickly, whereas Chief Disruptor has a smoother gain sweep, with more shades of gain in between. Chief Disruptor is hands down the most versatile though, due to its different clipping modes, switchable MID EQ, clean blend etc. Wurm2 is more compact and straight forward. So it all depends on what appeals to you. You get a great distortion pedal no matter what. But if versatility is important to you, then definitely go for the Chief Disruptor.
@MrFullCake Жыл бұрын
I clearly remember finding the Wurm 1 becoming wild really fast. I had a hard time taming it. I think I might settle for the disruptor. I think it will stack great with the Logan. Why dont share more your band stuff ? I didnt even knew you were in one.
@jimtroeltsch59982 жыл бұрын
If everyone likes this pedal you could also check out the deluxe big muff line from EHX, they all offer pretty much all these options, though not in the same enclosure, so you might have to pick and choose. I have the standard deluxe big muff and it's by far my favourite fuzz. Big Muff with a parametric EQ is the best fuzz sound there is, imo. I really want to try the Sovtek deluxe BM. I would love to try this KMA pedal out too, because it is rad that it puts all the options in one box. Also, the different clipping voicings sound like they would give you different BM base sounds to work from.

Of course a lot of the sound is in your hands, but it seems you're getting some sounds out of the chief disruptor on 'tight' that are similar to those you got from the KMA Minos. If I was interested in such tones, what would you say is the most versatile pedal?
@thepedalzone2 жыл бұрын
You can't beat the Chief Disruptor when it comes to pure versatility. It's a beast! So many tones in it.
Always love your playing! I can listen to your licks all day! IF I have to chose one between this and SolidGoldFX imperial fuzz, which one do you recommend for emo/post-rock/math rock style? or...maybe Guardian of the Wurm? lol Thanks!
@thepedalzone2 жыл бұрын
Thank you! Super kind of you to post such a sweet comment. Regarding Imperial VS Chief Disruptor. Both will work great for the styles you seek to play. It all depends on how simple or flexible you want things to be. Chief Disruptor offers way more tweakability through its different clipping options, vast eq possibilities and expression input, whereas Imperial is more set and forget, and the sliders offer a really fast and easy overview of your settings and even allows you to gently manipulate them with you feet if you need a bit more gain during a set. So way up what features are important for you. That should make it easier to make a final decision. You can't go wrong though. Both are great!

If it's between Dead Stag and Chief Disruptor, then definitely go for Chief Disruptor. Both are Muff-inspired distortions, and Chief Disruptor is just sooooo much more flexible. I have both and greatly prefer Chief Disruptor, even though Dead Stag is still a great pedal. If it's between Wurm and Chief Disruptor, then it's a completely different conversation, since the circuits are very different. Wurm being based on the HM2 and Chief Disrupter being Big Muff-inspired. Both are seriously awesome at what they do, so it all comes down to the flavor of dirt you're looking for.
