Repeat after me: tone wood is a myth, what makes the sound of the guitar is the string frets and pickups. You have active humbuckers here, nice playing btw ;)

Thanks man! I agree 100%, these are the stock passives humbuckers tho

It's not a myth in the sense that it will affect your clean tone ever so slightly. However, it's so inconsenquential that you might have a bigger difference in tone by moving the mid knob on your amp by a single notch. (It affects sustain a bit but yet again, having a good bridge and good strings still does wonders, even on a piece of plastic)

@@zynosgd9982 In terms of resonance, i noticed that my telecaster (mahogany body), unplugged, resonates much more than my Chinese-made strat (some cheap wood), it has more sustain acoustically, but in terms of tone I think that if i put an active humbucker on my strat both would sound the same

@@josessuarezz I build and have built guitars for almost 20 years now. I wanted to see if this was a myth (claim: pickups make all the sound, tonewood is irrelevant). I built two identical guitars, but with different wood selections: - one with mahogany body, maple neck, ebony fretboard. - the other with ash body, walnut neck, richlite fretboard. other than woods, every other spec and the parts were the same. I used the same dimarzio super distortion in the bridge and a SD sh-14 in the neck, for both guitars (swapped between the guitars during testing). I set up the guitars exactly the same way each time. I recorded each test. they didn't sound exactly the same, but they were close. the mahogany guitar had a slightly muddier, darker tone. the ash guitar had tighter mids and less bass. on high gain, the differences were almost unnoticable. but for cleans the differences were somewhat apparent. my theory is that while the pickups do indeed pick up only the magnetic changes caused by the metallic strings, I believe the way the strings vibrate is influenced by the wood.

@@apple_with_a_human_butt you're placebo-ing yourself. Tonewoods make too small of a tonal difference to matter unless you're using lab equipment.

@@DownLeftUpRight. Thanks man! If i had known that the tele was going to turn yellow i'll would have choosen the black version hahah, how was your process to restore it to white?

@josessuarezz No problem. I really lightly wet sanded it back for around 400 grit through a few different grits up to 1500, then a quick polish and wax with car products and its good as new. Did take around 10hrs work all hand sanded, then chucked a set of Daemonum pickups in. We'll worth it

Now try it with single coil pick ups on the guitar, lets see how djenty it is...

It doesn't really count if it's a tele with a humbucker in it. A sheet of plywood will sounds metal with a humbucker on it. When people say tele's or strat's can't play metal (not really true, but they're not ideal) they obviously mean the traditional all single coil varients.

You're right, i remember that guy years ago playing after the burial with only a stick with an EMG pickup on it 😅
@goobingtons6 ай бұрын
which is still not true, because older metal bands used to use single coils; I think it was Obituary that recorded their debut in Eb with Teles or strats w/ single coils.
