One thing I have to say about these cover songs, all you really need is practice, practice and practice. They've been designed in a very playable-and-singable way (john mayer is a genius at this, must admit it). That's why you don't see too many people play complicated solos and sing. Of course, you'll also need a good sense and remember, play it your way so it suits you well(sometimes you'll have to play for other people).
