Kmart Closing In West View, PA

I have fond memories of this K-mart. I worked here from 1989 - 1991. Mostly in the electronics department. When they actually had an electronics department. I also stocked shelves, mixed paint in hardware, worked as a cashier, Summers in the garden department and did just about everything else. Also participated in the first big remodel this store had in the summer of, I believe, 1990. It was my first job in High school and I remember it well. I miss West View Park more but I'll miss this place too!

My childhood Kmart closed during their first ever mass closings of 1995. My next hometown one closed in 2017, and soon there will no longer be any Kmart stores in my area as the last one was put on their closing list in late December. RIP Kmart, you were a good store in your prime, but Eddie Dumpert has run you into the ground.

Thank you, Wallie for documenting this. I live in Florida now, but I lived in the Brighton Heights area of Northside from the time I was 12 until I was 21. (I am 41 now.) The West View K-Mart was a HUGE part of my time there and I always make a point to buy something there when I go back to visit. That store employed a few of my family members over the years and was part of any "Wessview" shopping trip. I am so sad that the next time I visit my family, it will not be there. 😢 Much love!

There used to be a Kmart right by my house it wasn't far at all. It's now a fitness center and the other half of the store and the Little Caesars part of the store is still abandoned

The hardest part was the last day of cleaning knowing my 2 years with the company was coming to a end so sad miss it very bad I'm thankful for all the nice staff and regular customer support means a lot as well as wallies support I'll never forget it

You have been really doing great work with these Kmarts and I cry a little more seeing the stores wind down. It's such a crime. Looking forward to your series on this KMart which will be epic and awesome and leave me bawling (ok I"m a big mush.) I hate the cell phone cart people. If they are that bad pushing carts imagine them on the highway. I see too many of them yaking away and going thru the red light when I"m trying to legally cross in my hometown and in HOboken where I also Cat sit. I stay off my phone walking or crossing or in stores where I may miss something great on sale. Have an awesome week and keep the smile and the humor (lik ewaving the Steelers towel) going

sad they are closing down. to bad you weren't able to get to the new Kensington k-mart. I heard a grandma had been in tears just reading a poem or speech she wrote on the closing of that Kmart. who knows how many Kmarts are left or which ones will close down next. I keep trying to find out which ones are closing by state but don't find much info other then lists that are a jumbled mess.

My Kmart inside Rotterdam Square Mall in Schenectady, NY just closed on January 6th :( I got amazing deals on clothing though. Spent only like $150 and easily got $1000 retail.

45-50 minutes. Leechburg, PA. New Castle, PA location is a solid hour away. Pittsburgh, you can say... or Allegheny County, will be without any Kmarts after having 8 just last year.

The Baltimore area now has no Kmarts. The closest ones are near the DC suburbs and I don't imagine those lasting much longer.

Good video! This Kmart actually doesn't look too bad! Certainly hate the damn smartphoners who only care about themselves and have their precious phones constantly plastered to their heads and go running into people. Should've just ran into them yourself, just to teach them a lesson. Sad that we probably will only have archive footage of Kmarts soon.

I've lost all mine (the last one left is now in liquidation), and they've all told me the same thing- they get stuff from other Kmart's that weren't closing.

I remember when I was working at my local Kmart and when they would announce the closure of another store in the same state (or even other states) we would pack up discontinued or clearance merchandise to send to those closing stores. In turn, when they announced the closure of our store (I had already left by this point, but still had friends who worked there), the store received TONS of repacked freight from other stores.

WallieB26 and just to let you know, local news said a few weeks ago that Meijer bought the old Super Kmart here in Warren. The building will be demolished but I don’t know when it’s going to happen. I’ll keep an eye on the building until something does comes up and I’ll let try to you know when to film it before it gets demolished
