KMC Track Skidder 2600 Oregon Steep Slopes and Large Timber Skidding

The KMC 2600 is a more versatile skidder, equipped with a swinging boom skidding grapple. Able to pick up loads on either side of the machine and well to the rear, the KMC 2600 is particularly effective on steep slopes, wet and muddy areas, or on sensitive soils. The 2600 is better suited to hand-felled wood than the conventional Model 2500 Fixed Arch Grapple. Excellent productivity with pre-bunched wood on Steep Slopes or Wet Ground.
The Swing Grapple can help maneuver logs around standing trees and be used to shift the weight of the machine when working on very soft ground or steep slopes. Bringing the load forward onto the machine aids in balancing the weight distribution which results in better traction, higher speeds, greater productivity and consistent low Dynamic ground pressure.

I ran an FMC tracked skidder with moveable arch and chokers on snow in the early '70s in Oregon. Very fun machine to run around with out in the woods.....lots of maintenance. Flying a helicopter on fires in the 00"s I saw a lot of them that had been converted to water tankers for running fire lines.

I cut for one of them by day or two how big is a pretty good machine they move some Timber they were $350,000 a piece 20 years ago

Great video and the machine is leaps and bounds ahead of tire skidded. But the only problem that I can see with the machine, is that it needs to be powered with a CAT motor. Preferably a3408 even though its not classified under that bulletin emission act. That 3408 made and makes ton of power and low torque.

hell no, 3408 is way too fuckin big for that. They spec them out for ~6.0L motors, you might be able to jam a 3306 in there at the most
