I’ve been getting really into this game recently because I saw it was on sale. Turns out you can actually beat him in five hits. After each of his wave/beam attacks it gives you just enough time to charge. If you can maintain it you can smack him and he’ll go down in one shot for phases 1-3. Phase 4 takes two charges but it is significantly easier to find a window to charge due to the long charge time on the blast of the 6 or seven parry attack.

@dragontamer10124 ай бұрын
I love what all the different Jailers represent, and what lessons they try to teach you. The Chain represents impassionate hatred, sadism, humanity's evil. He's first to keep you quelled, quiet and in your cage, but he's also designed to make you reflect on the pain and suffering you inflicted on others just by existing, he gives you a passion for life by making you fear for your own. The Strap represents misunderstanding, they show you how you look to others, a dispassionate, violent beast that kills and attacks indiscriminately in the shape of a person. The voice says they locked her up because they couldn't understand her, that she was wild and uncontrollable, making you think, is this why they did the same to you? Is THIS what YOU look like to everybody else? The Line represents patience, and careful thought. They show you someone who is willing to speak with you, genuinely and honestly. But they're more neutral, not hateful, but not necessarily kind either. The Line shows you both how powerful it is to PLAN, to think BEFORE you take action, to make decisions without relying on instinct, or orders. Coming immediately after The Strap to show you the vast difference between animalistic instinct and careful action. They teach you the power of thinking for yourself. The Scale represents passionate, personal hatred. They're a representation, a manifestation of the damage you've done. Where the Line reflects the Strap, the Scale reflects the Chain. Where the Chain was impassionately violent, simply doing his job and reveling in it, The Scale's hatred and violence is directed at you personally. Because of what you did to him, because of the pain and suffering you caused to others, you created another Strap, another Chain, another YOU, represented all in the Scale. The Scale is the culmination of the villainous and evil side of Humanity, represented both by being the last "evil" guardian you see, and a representation of Humanity's worst trait, hatred. The Hand represents valour, selflessness and duty. He is the first positive side of humanity you encounter, and one that your prisoners believe YOU would hate, for he is your Jailer, the one who first imprisoned you. He is the reason you're here, and much like many other characters here, he is like you, although in this case you don't remember your duty or your purpose. He fights for others, but not because it is his obligation to do so, unlike with you. He fights because he wants to, because he believes it is the correct thing to do, morally and personally. He shows selflessness in his actions. Coming after The Scale to make you reflect on your own hatred, at first you were in the Hand's shoes against The Scale, but fighting with selfishly motivated purpose. The fight against The Hand now has you in The Scale's shoes, but this time your opponent has a purpose beyond themselves, but ultimately he falls against your blade. Showing you both the faults of duty, and the courageous nature to fight for what you believe in. The Song represents compassion and ego. The Song is contradictory to herself, being compassionate, but personally motivated, unlike The Hand, who fights to save others out of true compassion. The Song fights you out of ego, believing that you would not deny her when being shown kindness after a gauntlet of difficult and hateful enemies. However, you DO deny her, your freedom being important to you, even if you must kill even those who show you compassion to do it. She shows you that people are complicated, and that It's not positive to see someone turn to ugly behaviour to get what they want, why are YOU doing it, then? The Burst represents confidence and competition for the sake of victory. The lesson she teaches you is both a reminder of the Chain's pain, but also the folly of self-assurance in your own actions. If you've beaten The Song, then they understand you will stop at nothing to win, so now you are presented with someone who thinks the same way. Someone who will use every advantage they can muster, someone who crushes others mercilessly for the sake of WINNING. In your victory, the lesson is truly proven though. Self-assurance in your actions and absolute confidence is a folly. Another lesson of thinking for yourself, maybe your actions can be wrong, no matter how confident you are in your steps forward. The Edge ALSO represents competition for the sake of self-improvement, and bettering the self in general. Many guardians here act as your mirror, in some way or another. The Chain is your dispassionate murder, The Strap is your alien nature, The Line is your patience, The Scale is a representation of the pain you caused, the Hand is your duty, the Song is your ego, the belief that you're doing the right thing, The Burst is your skill. But the Edge, he is all of these things, all bound into one, but refined and sharpened to a point. The Edge IS you, if you were human, if you had been born on the other side of the conflict. If you were the Hero, and not the Monster. He shows you what you could be, what you CAN be. There is no stopping you now, but it does not mean the end if you have taken all your lessons to heart, and you understand the Edge for what he represents. He is the final, true hurdle. But not the last lesson, he isn't the end. You decide that now. The Beat is hope and innocence. Now in the shoes of the monster, freedom taken comes at the cost of innocence. Your own, and hers. What matters now is what you do what that freedom, did you feel pain when killing someone who could not stop you? Who could not even come close to posing a true, genuine threat? If you feel loss, if you feel pain in that moment. Then you had gained newfound innocence from your lessons, and thrown it away for freedom. But that too, is not the end. For innocence lost is its own lesson. Humanity is both good and evil, but what gives someone the right to decide those things for themselves is freedom. You were never free. Not while in the prison, and not before it either. But now...NOW you are free. Free to decide for yourself what you do. If you burn it all down, if you sit on the rotting earth and quietly rot with it, enjoying what you can never touch, or if you choose to free everyone else from a fate they cannot escape alone. All that's left now is your choice to decide, are you A Monster? or are you the Hero? You need only step forward over the Edge, and make that decision for yourself.

Something people don't seem to pay much attention to is the fact that The Edge withers and corrupts the world around himself in his final phases. The implication seems to be that they've reverse-engineered some aspects of your existence and he's gone through with having them tacked onto himself to be your equal. He's decided you are his final goal and nothing else matters beyond that duel. People who think he's a tragic figure don't really understand his dedication.
@jammish98024 жыл бұрын
My interpretation was he was formerly another of the scouts sent down who defected to the side of the planet
@revlarmilion95744 жыл бұрын
@@jammish9802 He's definitely not. You can see in his concept art that he's a cyborg, and he looks nothing like the scouts, which all look exactly the same.

@@revlarmilion9574 I've never seen the concept so I was not aware of that part. And with the other point, I kinda figured it'd be a "i need to differentiate myself" sort of thing. Overly elaborate and out there theories are my jam)

@arnetheussolitariusv0.9648 жыл бұрын
My interpretation of this character, based on the in-game info and stuff: 1) Rider arrives/crashes on planet ruining towns and killing people. 2) Rider gets subdued, people realise his op regeneration powers and enact a plan to imprison him for indefinite ammount of time, until they figure things out. 3) A call for guardians is made, "top-notch killers and fighters", as The Voice mentions. People who would be strong enough to 1v1 him if needed to. 4) A certain aspiring "hero", gets accepted as one of the guardians. Prison is built. 5) Having been a witness to martial prowess that rider has, seeing all the damage he brought, realising his "outsider/alien" (The Stranger) status, this guardian becomes obsessed with him. 6) He adopts/tries to simulate rider's combat style while at the same time desiring to upstage him in it, basically become this planet's "version" of rider, but better in everything. Hence his visual similiarities, even head/chin accessory. 7) As time passes by, he adopts the name/becomes known as The Edge. 8) As rider battles The Edge, guardian reluctantly realises that he can't beat rider at his own game after all. So, being a weapons master he is, he decides to use his original/older style he has been known for/accepted as guardian in the first place. Welcome the oar coupled with fiery attacks.
@antoni-art93306 жыл бұрын
Nope you are wrong, He's a Rider just like our character, check his armor, his sword and his hair, all the same, and in the game, when you're on the verge of die, and if u parry, your armor will turn to red like him, but it's because he trains himself for years, and like said the Voice, he's immortal (just like us)

Absolutely love the "we both know we are fighting against ourselves" because his attacks... are not lightning quick, he gives you full chance to process they are coming... which is the problem, he beats you down because you snap react to his flourishes, to the point where they entirely become feints. You also cannot take things too quickly, attacking when it isn't safe is an insane risk and may just be what he needs to start a beat down, even if you do a full combo is entirely impossible and if you keep hitting him you will end up dead again. He is not your opponent, you are your own opponent

This man's probably been training even before he's become a guardian; likely somehow blessed with eternal life thanks to technology. Whenever I was on any previous boss, or any after (besides the Beat) I felt angry, whenever I was killed or hurt. I felt mad.
