My friend gets kneecap pain. We've learned that if we massage deep from BEHIND it, she has like microspasms there. Working those out gives her a ton of relief. We use just steady pressure with finger or a small ball or massage tool to get deep and just hold the pain spots til they ease.

Last month I had a rather noticeable hard bump on the bottom outside corner of my left kneecap. It was a bit red. I could barely stand or sit from the pain. After a few days I had it examined by my primary doctor (HMO) who sent me for X-rays. At the same time she prescribed some antibiotics because of the redness. The X-rays indicated I had a free floating ossified structure in my knee. My doctor said a lot of older folks have them and are unaware until it happens to lodge itself into/obstruct a tendon, muscle or joint. So far the bump has gone down a bit, but not sure if it is worth a surgery. Do they do more damage cutting tendons, muscles, etc… just to get at it? Thanks for your videos? Both my sisters now watch them regularly.

Obviously I'm not a doctor or physical therapist, so this is just my personal experience. In fall 2019 I had a knee give out, hurt for a day bad enough that I had a limp. It spontaneously resolved, but a day or two later it locked up when I shifted in my seat, I couldn't straighten it without terrible pain, couldn't get socks on without being in tears. I went to ortho walk in clinic first thing Monday morning. X-ray showed a loose body (loose bone chip), MRI agreed, doc sent me for PT, which helped me function with minimal pain for a couple months, but when it started acting up again I opted for surgery. I was a bit sore for a couple days but not enough to even need Rx pain meds, even once I started PT. I haven't regretted surgery or PT a single day.

Without commenting on any individual case for obvious reasons, do you think that over use of quads while walking could cause pain in a number of locations around the knee ie both tendons and ligaments? I get a certain amount of pain, sometimes below the kneecap, sometimes above but more often in the inside knee. It feels to me more like something to do with muscle than bone. It only hurts when I walk on it and the pain doesn't stay. When I use the glutes more the quad seems to quiten down more and there is no pain. Any thoughts?
