Could you please show us what a bone spur looks like on x-ray in different joints? My fiancé's doctor pointed out a small one on his knee recently, but I didn't have a normal knee to compare it with. I think bone spurs are pretty common, and would be of general interest. Thank you so much for your educational and entertaining videos!

That was great Docs! Now I understand more in what my knees were showing in my X-rays. I think it would help more if the doctor would explain more when I visit with them. Thanks so much!

Is there going to be a test at the end?☺️ This is a great idea for a series! We should probably take notes! I found out that one leg is actually shorter than the other one. It's an inch and a half difference and I can tell when I walk. It's difficult to get orthotics for that big of a difference. I've actually worn two different shoes that are different heights and it feels so much better. But I do look funny wearing two different shoes. I'm just a little lopsided but I can feel the difference. You're so good at explaining things and helping us to understand! You're arming with great information that can help us stay healthy! Thanks for sharing another great video and teaching us valuable things!

Thanks Docs! I asked if you could cover knee alignment issues and this touched on what they are. The first report sounded a lot like mine, pre surgery. Leg length discrepancy and valgus deformation of the right leg. Also bone on bone in the patella femural compartment. My knees are now straight, I have a height adjusted shoe, and 2 partial replacements. I had to put in work to figure out was wrong and go to an alignment specialist several hours away. Hope this can help make someone else find info they need.

What do you think of this report? I put sections into Micro Soft Co-Pilot. CLINICAL DETAILS: 5 months post right TKR. Able to rotate tibia at prosthesis by 30 degrees. X-ray report attached. Confirm loose prosthesis TECHNIQUE: Spiral image single energy acquisition with multiplanar image reconstruction. FINDINGS: No prior imaging available. Image quality is degraded by beam-haedening artefact. Bilateral TKR in situ. There is satisfactory alignment of the right tibia relative to the right femur. However, the right tibial prosthesis is externally rotated relative to the femoral component and the proximal tibial metaphysis in the axial plane by approximately 10 degrees. There are posteromedial and posterolateral tibial marginal osteophytes/bone spurs but no apparent periprosthetic radiolucency. There is anterolateral (extending into Hoffa's fat), posterolateral and, to a lesser degree, posteromedial soft tissue thickening at the level of the joint line. No apparent effusion. No other findings. I have seen my right foot up to 30 degrees out of alignment with my left foot.

I’ve found that where I live the reports always vary with X-rays, MRI’s & CT’s. For instance one hospital says nothing wrong & another shows something different (that there is). I found that some either skim or don’t look at all. Our hospital showed I still have my uterus and gallbladder. I haven’t had them in a long time. I was really feeling horrible back in April and the local hospital said I was fine. I went to a better hospital and they said my pneumonia was bad (I had pneumonia, like usual). I was admitted for 3 days. That’s happened a few times with differences.

Hi. Sorry if this is a little off category, but I figured you might be able to input. John here. I'm 55. I found your channel looking for info. on hip surgery, which I had on Oct,. 12th 2023. I have a question, if you can please answer this. I was doing great with my THR recovery for the first 9 weeks or so. Came home 8 days after surgery and was using only the cane. Was also to walk around the house without any aide. Started PT and was doing great with the exercises. (I was probably pushing TOO hard at the beginning, and was getting glute and quad soreness).Then, one day, out of the blue I started having knee pain. It progressively got worse and worse. I started using the cane around the house again, and eventually, 2 weeks ago I had to start using the walker. Made two trips to my surgeon, and saw a knee specialist for a second opinion. Had 2 X-Rays and an MRI done and nothing was seen to explain the knee pain. I just saw my surgeon 2 days ago for my follow-up with still no relief. After taking another X-Ray he explained that the femoral stem had shifted (subsidence) a few millimeters and that is why Im having the transfer pain in the knee. He said the "good news" is that he believes that the stem, with rest (no more "walk as much as you can tolerate) will heal itself and readjust. Is this possible?????? Isnt this an early sign of a failed THR? Will it keep migrating? Everything Ive read says its an early warning sign. My surgeon is factually one of the best in the country and I trust him. He did a great job. I'm just looking for re-affirmation. If you can answer to your best knowledge, Id appreciate your input. I'm worried that it will keep slipping. Thanks in advance.
@TalkingWithDocs
@TalkingWithDocs 6 ай бұрын
Yes this is a possibility. The stem can settle and find a "happy" place. If it keeps subsiding it would continue to cause pain and require revision. X-ray and symptoms will reveal this. Hang in there!

An idea for a future topic: the latest horror show warnings about alcohol. Are they legit or can they be viewed much like the past panic about eggs, butter, fill-in-the-blank bad thing du jour? People have been drinking for millennia, why all of a sudden is even one drink bad? Is the data reliable? Thanks!!

So now that some medical facility company's have apps that u can download onto the phone to review medical records, I wish they would actually include the x-ray, MRI, or CT images instead of just the report itself.

The radiologist sends a report along with the image. If you have MyChart or similar, the report does go in as test results. It's for communication between health care providers, but you may or may not end up seeing it. (I'm in the US and don't work in healthcare, so someone feel free to correct or expand on what I said.)
