Nice to be able to watch videos of U.P. Deer camps. Born and Raised in Ishpeming, moved to ND 8 years ago and haven’t been back for deer camp since then.....sure do miss going to my family deer camp. The hardest part of moving away is missing out on the deer season back home with friends and family. Honestly the hunting is 10 times better out west, but it’s not the same. I did however introduce a bunch of folks In ND and WY to Cudighi. Make a few hundred pounds every year here. Thanks for the video.

Enjoyed your video from deer camp!! There isn't anything like deer camp. Now our camp here in WV is on a lease in a camp ground near the National Forest that we hunt every November. We do have electric, but our camp consists of a 1969 Dodge school bus converted to a camper, along with my camper and my brother in laws camper. We enjoy our time there so much cause where we are there is maybe only one radio station you can pick up and we don't have a TV. There isn't even a cell phone service so we are disconnected from the world for the entire week. It is so relaxing to be at camp. Thanks for sharing and I plan to go thru and watch more of you videos. I have sub'd to your channel. Again great video!! Juddie - J & J TOA

@@KnettersPracticalOutdoors Watching your video really made me miss home. Been gone for a lot of years now. I grew up hunting western Houghton and Ontonagon counties. Shot some nice bucks and a ton of grouse back in the day. Perhaps I'll make it back there to hunt before I get too old to enjoy it. Until then, God bless and keep posting your videos. They bring back a lot of great memories for me.

This is what deer camp is all about. At my camp, I kinda refer to it as my rookie weekend because there are a few guys that only hunt one weekend a year. Getting a deer is the hope but it certainly does not define the success of the weekend. Good food, good friends, great memories! Can you talk more about how your hot water system works? Looks interesting. Is there some type of circulator pump?
@KnettersPracticalOutdoors6 жыл бұрын
Shawn, thanks for the comment and question. Maybe I should do a vid sometime about the sauna. No pump needed. There is just a "U" shaped pipe inside the fire box. This pipe is coupled to the holding tank by way of rubber radiator hose. The water circulates by the hotter water rising in the "U". This causes cooler water to be drawn in from the tank by way of the lower hose/pipe. This actually circulates the water pretty well. And I agree life is too short to be disappointed about not getting a deer. Deer camp is a fun time either way. Thanks again, KPO.

God I love your hunting vid's but hate them to! Lol. We miss hunting up there at our camp so much. My wife and I shot 39 bucks in 11 years up there. Both of us filling are combo's most years until I had heart problems and we had to sell our camp in Trout Creek and land in Baraga. Thanks for you bringing back memories though! Let is know if you get anything in black powder.

Roger, sorry to hear you no longer can get out hunting in the UP. It's a reminder for all of us that nothing stays the same. James, thanks for checking everyone. But the guitar stuff is my fault. He just played a little riff and I looped it over and over. how big is your camp, I am going to be building my camp this spring and it looks the perfect size.
@KnettersPracticalOutdoors6 жыл бұрын
Well, that's a good question. The original camp that was there when we started was 9' X 10'. It was just a glorified deer blind. We actually hunted one season out of it. The next summer we added another 12' on it so it became 9' X 22". Then after that we added a 16' X 20' section.The main camp that you see in most of the video is the 16' X 20'. If you check out my vid "DEER CAMP - closing up the camp for the season" you can see more of it. Our bunk room is the original camp, kitchen is the first addition, main room is the last addition. I need to do a video on this history some time too. If I started from scratch I would never have a 9' wide section of course. I think if I started from scratch it would be 16 X 24 or 20 X 24. But it just made sense to utilize what we had already. Thanks for the question. I love deer camp talk. Stay in touch and let me know how it goes this spring, KPO.

You would probably see more deer if your deer blind window wasn’t so tiny
@KnettersPracticalOutdoors5 жыл бұрын
It's a trade off. Smaller windows make it real dark in the blind. This allows the hunter to get away with movement in the blind. Also the woods we hunt in is very thick and really the only distances we can see are down lanes that we cut. Of course we cut the lanes so they can be scene through our windows. But I agree with you, if we hunted more open terrain I would have more windows all around. Thanks for adding in, KPO.
