I just installed this kit on a 2011 Camry SE 2.5 (A/T) 213,000 miles, everything went together perfectly. I didn't disconnect the battery, so I didn't need to do any idle/relearn procedures. But the car responded well and i've put 75 miles on the intake so far without any issue. In all honesty you won't really notice much of the rwhp/rwtq gain, but the induction sound and some increase in throttle response, makes this a good kit overall to have. Its a cool little mod and its a short ram style induction, but it does retain the factory "ram air style" inlet at the hood to direct air to the K&N heatshield to underside of K&N filter The one thing i'd like to see in this kit is the velocity stack and filter combo offered for the 2012+ Camry 2.5 platforms. I will report back once I have done some testing with fuel economy and might even make a video of the induction sound under WOT. Be mindful too if you're Camry is older, you will have some rust on oem airbox brackets, old and brittle oem hoses etc, also when removing the EVAP purge valve, take care to not strip the single philips head screw on the mounting bracket, because you reuse this. I'd say a small butane torch for tiny isolated heat (quick bursts) and PB Blaster will be your friend. Lastly, two things... make sure you have a set of metric/sae Hex head (Allen Wrench) to use for the new MAF screws. Secondly, the supplied crankcase vent hose from the K&N intake pipe to the valve cover takes some persuasion and a little lubricant to get over the metal barbed fitting on the valve cover. Perfect diameter on the intake pipe side (attaches to 90* elbow on the intake pipe), but a little on the small side for the valve cover, still works but could be improved in my opinion. Overall, great kit, instructions are on point, and its nice to hear the induction of the 2AR-FE!

Thanks for sharing your installation experience & giving us tips. Always nice to know if others 'feel' a performance gain, but my interest is primarily to get away from the super-obnoxious filter swaps with the stock air box. 😀

@@formx9796I kind of followed the instructions in this video, but I mostly followed the instructions that came in the box, it was kind of confusing at some steps. But the install was “mostly” straight forward.

Kiwihame oh okay so it showed a small improvement on power output? Did it cause any check engine lights to come on? Has your mpg been affected by this modification? I too have a Camry and want to have more fun with it since I plan on keeping it a good while
@harryuy74854 жыл бұрын
Raftika what you can feel is that the engine can breath better, sounds better. there’s an increase in acceleration, thats what I experience on my 2013 Toyota Camry, there’s always an urgent to take off faster.

@@raftika1 No. No check engine light, and I wouldn't expect so with just a filter. I didnt run back to back fuel economy runs to check.

The stock air cleaner box on my 2007 is so very obnoxious to deal with, that 2nd screw nearest the driver fell out & I nearly had to dismantle the entire air box mounting pieces to recover it. I think newer models changed the bolt to a spring clip. The stock air box user UN-friendliness makes this K&N upgrade worth considering. Anyone else out there feelin the pain changing out the stock air filter?
@TheoEclipse Жыл бұрын
Yeah I hate dealing with the stupid box air filter for my 2008 camry. It's always a pain in the ass getting the clips to fit back on properly and the lid sits kind of crooked on one side even when fitted correctly. Plus it's a pain in the ass the clean out any dust/debris from the box when you take the old filter out.
@earlinnm Жыл бұрын
@@TheoEclipse I use a wet/dry vacuum to get the dust/debris from the bottom of the box. The big hose doesn't always get everything, but if i stick a smaller tube on the end (like a drinking straw) It gets most of the dust....wet/oily stuff still a pain. The price of this kit is the only thing holding me back. Its competitively priced with other kits, but $330 (as of Dec '22 on amazon) remains just out of reach.

Does this affect gas consumption/oil/engine life at all? Same model as the one in vid. Is there anywhere I can go to get a purchased set installed?

It's technically not "cold air" system because everything is still above the hot engine don't see how it really does anything really

True it’s technically a short ram but I guess they are calling it a cold air intake because of the little heat shield

KNfilters how is fuel economy affected by this modification? My friend installed one on his civic and it idles rough and has check engine light on.. I hear it’s common when changing the air intake on most cars. Would I have to somehow change the ecu or something like that so the engine knows it has a change in air intake

@@raftika1 More airflow. the engine mixes gasoline with air. more airflow allows for less gasoline to be required for the combustion process, thus limiting fuel consumption and saving gas.
