Give KAT credit for bouncing back after his injury last season but he gets into foul trouble a lot and his contract would mean we would have to give up players in the coming years. Naz showed he’s more than capable to replace him and we essentially get similar value from Randle who’s 25m cheaper. What makes this trade good for wolves is acquiring Donte. We’ve improved the depth and can move Randle if he doesn’t work out. Tim our GM gave us flexibility we didn’t have.

I like KAT more then most (he’s one of the most versatile offensive bigs ever who the last 8yrs is averaged 24, 11, 3, 2 stocks on 52/40/84!), but Alex was wrong when he said “This guy just doesn’t miss games.” The last 5yrs games played 62 29 74 50 35 Before that he was very durable (82, 82, 82, 77), but 4 of the last 5 yrs he hasn’t been durable. He’s way better player than Randle though. Also even though KAT is not thought of as a good defender, Jokic’s FG% is actually worst in NBA vs KAT by decent amount fwiw. Alex thinking Randle is > KAT is delusional in 3P shooting era. KAT was big reason they beat Nuggets last year. In that series he averaged 19, 9, 3, on 51/39 splits. Averaged 23 in games 1, 2, 7 big wins. Also averaged 19, 10, 3 on 53/53/89 splits in first round sweep vs suns when they were underdogs. PS Kolek washes Cam Payne (remember that).

So the fact that KAT played most of the games for those seasons and doesn’t miss the playoffs is solid. KAT is a better offensive talent than Randle, but Randle is the more well rounded player. Randle can score, play make, and rebound. Both players are questionable on defense, but I’d give the slight edge to KAT because he can be a rim protector. While I hear you on KAT being a reason for making it far in the playoffs, he was also the reason the Wolves lost to the Mavs in the WCF. He got into foul trouble, couldn’t hit a three to save his life, wasn’t able to take advantage of Lively, Washington, and Gafford. I understand why the trade was made, but it’s not a clear upgrade. Need to see it play out. I have my concerns.

But, with Mikal (better than Ragu) and Deuce at SG (Deuce is better as a SG than PG), there would be no playing time for Ragu.

Say what? Randle got injured last season because a guy walked under him when he was dunking and knocked him out of the air. That had nothing to do with being injury prone. Also Randle is much better than KAT. The Knicks could have gone out and got Wendell Carter who could shoot 3s if they wanted that type of guy. In this universe, KAT isn't a superstar, he's a borderline all star. Randle is an all star and we had a real chance of getting to the Finals and beyond with him this season. We didn't need a top center to do that. KAT didn't do much with Anthony Edwards. Why do we think he'll do more with Jalen Brunson? And I'm not putting down Brunson, but the Knicks would have only one all star so KAT would be in the same situation on this team as he was in Minnesota. Also Thibs couldn't get anything out of KAT in Minnesota. So why would he be able to get something out of him in New York?

Randle ISOing after Brunson eats, was going to be terrible for the role Bridges wants and has shown he can handle - ya'll were going to be stagnant on O and do a terrible "his turn, my turn, his turn" rendition of basketball, yuck. This move opens up the floor for Bridges to operate, which he needs all of the space he can get because he's not S tier level skilled. Also opens up the floor for Brunson drives. As a Laker fan, Brunson, Hart, Mikal, OG, Towns -- has the grit , shooting, floor spacing that is not only modern but scary, all of your wings are dogs and you don't have to play Randle at the 5 to have them all on the court. Randle wasn't the fit or 2way player to offset his bad nights; you don't want a ISO centric guy who stagnates things even on his off nights - Bridges ain't thriving with that. DDV's a great role player but KAT replaces his shooting.......
