I was able to handle your knife at Blackie’s gathering, well done. I look forward to how you progress as a maker and designer. I agree with your thoughts on everything from toothy edge to batonning, primary knife function and apex thickness. Refreshing to hear someone else reach the same conclusions I have. Wish you much success.

Thanks for the feedback! I really appreciate it! The conclusions I came to are simply the result of using a knife. In the past I have owned knives from many different popular companies. They almost always had to be thined out because I was frustrated with how poorly they cut.

Thanks for sharing about your knife design philosophy, I greatly enjoyed this video. 👍Your knife designs are super fantastic and well thought out. 👌Take care my friend and Cheers!

Thanks for the feedback! I guess the real test is how many other people want similar features in a knife?

Finally... Someone on KZbin who speaks English when talking about knife design. Refreshing.

Thank you! I know my opinion goes against what is popular on youtube. My idea of knife design is simple, it comes from using a knife. Imagine that 🤣 I started making knives because I couldn't find what I wanted.

@@LastChanceKnives I may be drawing to the same conclusion. I like a curved spine & low tip, as well, with the belly below the handle & somewhere around 3 inches of downward straight edge. Really like the models you showed, but I'm EDC/indoor focused. And I got a thing for carbon fiber as, in my opinion, it's the best option for a handle material. It's strong like G-10 but a little lighter & just as elemental resistant and durable.
@LastChanceKnives2 ай бұрын
@Krusher_Knave I have never worked with carbon fiber but I love the stuff. I'll have to do a little research and see if there is anything special that must be done when working with it. It would be great combined with a good stainless steel. This summer I will be playing with Magnacut and Cruwear. First I am working on making my own dry ice so that a cryo treatment can be done. So far I have only worked with steels that do not need cryo.

Hey Ken! Superb video. Excellent Reasoning! Too many parrots out here, same speech from 18 different people. Always liked your channel because You've got a mind and... you're not afraid to use it! Thanks for sharing. Stay Strong, my friend!

Thanks! Reasoning is the result of doing things in real life....not living in your mothers basement 🤣😂🤣 If I get like that parroting "popular think" then nobody should listen to what I have to say!

Thanks! A few weeks back when you had trouble with a certain knife in 80CrV2 I said that I was going to send you one. Since then you got a great example of 80CrV2. How about trying one in O1 for a comparison. I made a smaller edc knife along with the one I make for the contest. It just needs a handle and a sheath. I think it would be a good size for you. It will be about 2 weeks before I can finish it up. The next couple weeks are crazy busy at work.

@@LastChanceKnives that would be amazing my brother! Thank you!!!!!!

Thanks! I had fun in the contest. I figured it was a good time to put out a video like this. At any other time it probably would not get that many views.

Good explanation. Thanks..It feels really good when you create things. Or fix things. Or build things..Did the sheath being judged only as "dangler" have a negative affect on the contest outcome?
@LastChanceKnives3 ай бұрын
I won the contest, so I guess it had no impact, just a missed feature. It was a knife making contest. The only requirement for the sheath is that it must be able to safely carry the knife. I really enjoy making and modifying stuff and then using it everyday!
