Yeah, I love Frank Castle's style of fighting because it isn't Asian dancing. It is technically proficient, but it is more about violence than finesse. The quickest way between two points is a straight line. Frank Castle takes the straight line to finishing fights by simply doing the most brutal damage in the shortest possible amount of time. No unnecessary twirly loopty-loops, no flashy flying-spiny thingys. Just break things. And I love him for it.
@CanadianWolverine3 жыл бұрын
I think we're over looking that Punisher is a big believer in ambushing his opponents who he has already decided deserve death, its part of why the #8 stab is so very much a part of his character, he's not just about being brutally efficient, he's about doing it unexpectedly too. Many of his violent acts are one sided and overwhelming, that suits him just fine.

and I just notice the sewing machine attacks also make the extremely close “safe distance” dangerous as well. For longer reach weapons you kinda need some space to swing said weapon to make them effective, but with a small knife or sharp object you only need that little arm swing to shove it into your opponent. Also, please correct me if I’m wrong, if a person is using a short knife as a harassing tool in this tide corridor, throwing quick jabs and stuff, it would be really hard for the opponent to disarm it, right? That kinda makes the disadvantage of the shorter reach an advantage in this fight.
@ScenicFights3 жыл бұрын
"To be honest, all knife disarms are - at least for me - opportunistic. In other words, I'm gonna try a disarm if I manage to capture some part of the weapon arm. If I can't, I'm not going to try and hunt it. So yes, the smaller weapon is definitely the better choice with this terrain." - Logan

I love how explicit you where about the eye gouge. Yeah, mechanically someone can do it and it's efective, but _could you? would you want to?_ It's important to highlight that hurting people has an impact on you and if you're trauma and rage fueled trained killer Frank Castle he could, but a normal person would be shocked and could not do it.

And even Frank’s character has issues controlling how he feels about the violence he inflicts. Escalation after the fact is usually a powerful tool; but it can also get you in more than just legal trouble. Escalating to things like trying to blind someone against a more powerful fighter can leave you at their mercy if you fail to handle them, which is a bad place to be.

Knowing that Castle is trained, the way he stabs the neck and follows through is a military technique and it also means if another assailant surprises him, the knife is usable. The amount of times in movies that they leave the knife in their assailant or throw it down is absurd. I also agree that the number eight is excellent. I do it with a Polish sabre and the angle takes so many people by surprise. It's also great with stick for left handers because you are striking on the open side and there is a longer distance your opponent has to come across their centre line to guard against it. By the time they do so you can flow through or disengage. I know there are some open handed techniques in Kali that perform a slap to ear from essentially a number eight which always fascinated me. I also found it interesting where you asked Chad about ever throwing a punching from number five because there are techniques in close where you essentially pass through a number five position when you whip a punch. As you turn your hips and body into the punch you basically roll your shoulder as you bring the other arm up to cover to give you a little more distance and then you finish the motion of the punch. It allows you to generate a lot of power without telegraphing. So one of the most absurd knife fight scenes that very few people are familiar with is the one from nightshooters. It's two minutes long but the amount of knife work and technique and the level of skill is super impressive. It also has elements of it that I think Chad could shed some really good light on. You guys should break it down. It's super brutal though; kzbin.info/www/bejne/eZrdpYyqi5WLqrs

I have watched this scene so many times. I usually wince at the impailment and the eye gouge. But it never really hit home for me just how terrifying the violence here actually is. As humans we're so fragile. It's so easy to mortally wound someone caught off guard. I realise that if I ever got in a fight, I'd probably die every time. @@ScenicFights so many ideas! You should definitely consider either of the fight scenes between Daredevil and Bullseye from Daredevil season 3. The church fight from episode 10: Karen is my personal favorite, but the Bulletin fight scene from episode 6: The Devil You Know is also great. Both of these are awesome at highlighting that unorthodox and makeshift weapons in the hands of experts are deadly. You could always do another Punisher fight too. Punisher Season 2 episode 1 has that fantastic bar fight scene, and season 2 episode 5: One Eyed Jacks has Frank vs The Russians in the gym. Then there's the extended Titans fight scene from season 1 episode 5 at the end of the episode against the Nuclear Family. It's a little showy (it is a superhero show after all), but awesome. Or you could do Titans season 1 episode 6 Jason Todd vs the cops. Or you could go with Titans Season 2 episode 3 and do the blindfolded sparring scene between Jason, Gar, and Rachel. And there's always The Mandalorian, which has great fights. You could look at Din Djarin vs Moff Gideon from Season 2 episode 8: The Rescue or any one of the fight scenes from Season 1 episode 6: The Prisoner. You should for sure take a look at Mary Elizabeth Winstead in the 2021 movie Kate, too. The scene where she takes on the whole Kijima clan in knife fight is my favorite, but the kitchen fight scene also has merits. Thanks for making great videos, and keep on being awesome guys

As someone with a lot of experience with MMA and Jiu-Jitsu, I can say that while not like the front guillotine as used in the video, you can actually apply a version of it that acts like a joint-lock on the neck vertebrae (which I assume could also cause fractures if applied with force). Just use your forearm on the opponents cheek and chin, instead of the throat, to force a 90 degree rotation of the head. Keep the head a bit more in front of your belly instead of under your armpit and then push up your hips. Don't try at home unless you have experience with reacting to soneone tapping out.

Number 5 attack is ridiculously popular and mostly used by people with no experience with knife fighting 5:02 you CANNOT block a knife strike, especially a barrage of number 5. Imagine if Logan had a ballistic knife, he would go for 2 to 3 number 5 strikes, then shoot the blade out. 5:50 Smart choice, Logan is purely a killer when he is armed with Pekiti Tirisa Kali, an edged weapon and the killer instinct. The number 8 attack really reminds me of Silat, where I go for a hook, then go an elbow strike that has similar motions to the number 8 attack. The headlock would be a lot of brutal if Castle took out the knife, go for a guillotine, and then stabbed the front side of the neck. In addition, Castle could strike at the neck/groin/jaw, and use the body of the assailant as a meat shield, covering his vital points, seizing the opponents' options, and opening Castle's further choices In summary, it was so hilarious to see Logan's joy at brutalizing Chad in this video. In addition, this is the first time we get to see the barbaric but effective knife barrage and other tactics, like the eye gouge. Very cool, very realistic, very immoral fighting tactics, but if we were in life or death situations, do not hesitate to use it, your life is in the assailant's hands, and take it back no matter the costs. Thumb-ups for you guys.

As always, it was pretty interesting and pretty informative to see your breakdown. Can't wait to see which fight you'll do next and hope to see more of The punisher.

The movement you referenced at the beginning of the number 8 stab explanation, is called an outside hooking block and when used correctly can indeed deliver a larger amount of damage, I my self have broken a jaw with it, it's force comes from rotation at the hip and shoulders, I can even be used as a precise weapon to strike the temple eye sockets or nose or throat since a fight happens at all angles. Truthfully and any fighter will tell you this, there is only one punch and it can come from any direction.

Regarding the eye-poke and eye-gouge: A classmate of mine accidentally poked someone with a single finger into the eye and he needed to go to the hospital! His eye-lid closed and his eye produced a lot of tears. The reason he needed to get help was that the nail had cut into the skin of the eyeball. It wasn't deep, but it was enough to leave the white bloodred and damage the transparent part so much that untreated he might have become a pirate... Personally, I'm not the biggest fan of finger attacks, as you can easily bend your finger the wrong way... However, it gives you a longer range than your punches and can come quite unexpectedly. Since most people flinch when something comes to their eye, it can be used as a setup for the real attack. Regarding the eye-gouge: an ER doctor has confirmed to me that most humans are not capable of popping the eyeball like this, even when you are able to get a hold of the chin as an anchor point. However, this doesn't mean that it can't be done, but rather that modern humans suck at grip strength. I wouldn't want to fight an archer or free-climbing professional for that reason. I was sparring in a grappling match against a woman and had a bad time, despite being significantly taller. She was overweight, but still an avid climber, which meant that she had not just the mass but incredible strength for a woman. I'd also like to point out that some humans were capable to go completely apeS**T and doing damage as a Chimpanzee could. This includes nose, lips, and cheeks being bitten off, skin pinched and torn off, jaws ripped out, throat ripped out, and the two instances I found the most incredible and shocking were in one case, a guy ripped out the womb of his victim and one other guy found his wife cheating on him and he ripped his rivals' genitals off despite him wearing a Jeans (the trousers was ripped as well by his attack). TLDR: don't mess with people who can climb a rockface in seconds, or roll up a frying pan... There's one last thing I'd like to point out: there's one way an eye gouge can have a significant effect even though your grip strength is not sufficient to pop the eyeball. It involves sticking a finger in between the eyeball and the eye socket. This results in the eye popping out of the socket and stretching the attached ligaments as well as suffering minor damage due to the temporary deformation of the eyeball. Typically, it can be pushed back in with little lasting damage (which is something you usually only see in car accidents, or someone accidentally impaling his eye with a blunt object). In any case, it probably hurts pretty bad and is quite demoralizing. That said, a professional wrestler suffered such an injury along with a broken eye socket and he kept on fighting!

@@peternguyen1911 Sorry, forgot to put out a warning for empaths... As compensation, I'll poke fun at myself: my best friend gave me some solid advice: _don't tell such stories to girls, or they'll run! If they don't, you should run!_

It's true, eye pokes have it's place in self defense, it's just not a kill shot like most self defense guys claimed it to be. It works just like a boxing jab, to make the other guy flinch when something is flying torward his eyes and then follow up with something else, JKD style. But i have to disagreed about fingers bending/breaking when using it, you don't have to put much force behind it like a punch. To temporary disable someone's vision, all you need is a quick tap or a flick the fingers into the eyes, anyone who don't believe me could try it on the wall right now
@edi98923 жыл бұрын
@@jaketheasianguy3307 it shouldn't be the risk of hitting too hard, if you got any experience. No, the problem is that if the opponent blocks/swipes, it is likely to bend your fingers.

13:23 with your right hand cup just behind and above their left ear, pull towards you and down while you gouge with your left hand. Perfect to get you out of a real bad situation. Did this many years ago when two guys got me in a carpark one night. I got hit round the back of my head but the guy screaming with my thumb in his eye stopped his mate long enough for me to get away. The psychological effects of having this done to you or even seeing this done can't be understated! Another time a few football idiots started on me and my friends. My mate, in the grapple stuck his finger up this guys nose, he hooked it through the middle and pulled the cartilage down, the insides of this guy's nose were hanging out, he screamed and it bled alot. The effect it had on his mates ended their bravery. Fighting like this is nasty but sometimes deserved and necessary.
