It's not really a practical feature though for real world usage. Might help in a movie style sword fight but that's about it. Probably does help with the balance, but not by much. Would be a pain in real world usage because that's bare metal against your knuckle. Would be better if there was at least some binding on it to pad it. If you were to actually stab this into something, you could really mess up your hand if your grip slipped.

@@peoplez129 If you break the edges a little it's not really a problem. I had plenty of contact of my knuckles against metal crossguards while stabbing and hitting human targets. It's not an issue.

This design has me thinking of what dwarves would produce in a sci-fi setting. Quality alloy, highly polished, thick profile, fine edge, streamlined design. The shape services its use as a hand tool in leatherwork, woodwork, butchery, etc. Utilitarian and replaceable, without sacrificing on style or production value.
