I love Opinel pocket knifes and have several. They are affordable and super practical. The simple locking mechanism is genius. You can use them in the kitchen, in the garden, in the workshop, or when out camping and hiking. Everywhere, really. They hold an edge quite well and are easy to sharpen when needed. This one you made is obviously not an exact copy but I think it is a worthy tribute to the original. Good job!

Would have preferred a traditional Opinel blade and not a standard blade shape but well, still it's lovely.

Nice work Koss! Love the way the spine tapers to the pipe and nice touch with the copper plating. Definitely heavy duty and probably could use it instead of a roll of quarters in a pinch. ;) Thanks for sharing all your creativity! ~PJ

Why call it an Opinel ? Why not just a ring lock pocket knife ? In all honesty it is not made like an Opinel other than the ring lock feature, and that is even a different design than Opinel. They do not have a perfectly cylindrical shape. Don't think I am just here to criticize, I really like the knife. I think the ring lock on your creation is a different (even more robust) design than the theirs and the idea of knurling is perfect ! I would have loved to see a more refined design on the handle however. There is no way to grip and would be quite easy to slide a hand down the blade when using the point. I love your work but I would have liked to see more refinement of the handle portion.

A featureless tube with a knife on the end. This looks nothing like an Opinel. Could have at the very least shaped the handle, added crosshatch and polished. Yet you went to the effort of copying the virobloc which is actually patented. 🤷🏻♀️

Cutting round stock on a bandsaw is a great way to wind up with it hitting you in the face. Don't you own a machinist's vise or even a u-clamp?
@okami36 Жыл бұрын
I love Opinel knives. Sadly, this video is a rare miss for you as far I'm concerned. The knife looks like a Duracell. The round grip makes it very easy to have it twist while using it. Most of all, the wobble in your parts on the lathe made me cringe. Then again, most of my lathe work has tolerances of +/- .0002" on average, and I imagine you don't need to be so precise.
