I've been using expensive locking knives with all the new super steels for a few years now but I bought a case mini trapper last year. I still liked my spyderco and benchmade knives more. Fast forward to a month ago, and that mini trapper has become my primary true every day carry. It's all I carry. I love the small size, it's light and I can't tell it's in my pocket. No pocket clip to get hung on stuff and draw attention. I love the cv steel, it's easy to sharpen and holds a good edge. Now I'm looking for different designs across different brands. There really is a place for these "old" knives. They've endured because THEY WORK!

It's always the story when your collecting, I agree. I have read the copperhead bolster was designed to keep the sharp corner where the spine meets the tang (called the backsquare) from tearing up your pocket when folded. Makes sense after I bought one. I really like all your vids because of your vast knowledge (and collections) on knives.

Terrific video! I've been on a bit of an EDC journey with my knives, lately. Gravitating toward less threatening options and started reminiscing about the knives my Dad & Grandpa carried every day. I have found myself going back to old school slip joints. When I saw this video I had to have a Copperlock! Keep up the great work!

I found a Schrade old timer in the house i moved into. I noticed it was made in walden NY usa. so i did a little research and found out it was made in the 60's. It was used but in decent shape. I cleaned it up and now on the rare occasion ill work it into my edc.

I got my dad a copperlock years ago. He does use it, although he knows he’s destructive with a knife, so he uses the 940 I got him a lot more. I really want a copperlock for myself. Such a nice piece.

@southerncountryboy811 жыл бұрын
I love the old style pocket knives. In todays knife community the tend to get bashed or ignored because of no jimping, non-locking blades, and standard steels. Yet for our gradfathers and generations before, they were perfectly acceptable. They also develop character over time, unlike a "tacticool" knife that has little personality. I think people should give these knives a chance. Also for anyone who's interested, check out Great Eastern Cutlery. They make outstanding old-fashioned knives.

Dude, he just made a 10 minute video on these Case knives. He is not doing a balisong video now, you knew this was not going to be a balisong video when you clicked it. I don't think you realize how irritating it is to spend time putting a video together then someone asks where some other video is. Jeff has said specifically how annoying comments like this are. If you want to see his balisong knives go to those videos and ask if there are more coming, don't come to a Case video asking for balis.

The lack of a point is due to the manufacturing process. They use a vibration deburr and polish which causes the point to become rounded. This is a fault, old knives had a sharp point because they were hand made.

Ive taken a few NRA courses on gun training but nothgin too intense, its more mind over matter, you cant look at a gun like its a gun becvause our whole lives where brainwashed by media and entertainment to see guns as being bad dangerous things that were scared of...Once you see a gun like everything else you will be fine, respect it because it has power, but its no different than driving a car...
