Knife Review : CRKT "Ashworth Turtle"

I bought several of these many years ago. Their biggest asset is in their many uses. Great money clips for men, necklasses for the ladies, and, as you say, make great low profile EDC utility knives. Great to have around for last minute gifts. I like 'em. Thanks for the video. BTW, one of my "passions" (don't ask why, I have no idea) is keeping live turtles. I share my house with a 25 year old Leopard tortoise (purchased as a hatchling in the late 1980's).

You know, that would be a fun knife to customize for someone as a gift. The scales are easy to make out of any material. You can make a nice bone scale with a name inscribed in it, or many other options. I may have to do that next year.

I teach basic self defense with small blades and CRKT has always been a good affordable option for a lot of people. I have ordered several of the Minimalists and they always come razor sharp, but the edge doesn't stand up to too much punishment.

The handle is made from the same material as most bowling balls. Pretty awesome, don't think it'll crack anytime soon!

Hey Jeff, I would imagine the purpose of the other screw with the clip is because the clip is probably thinner than the scales, perhaps the screw would be shorter.

I think CRKT puts the design name on most if not all their knives. My Edgie and GlideLock both have the model name on the back of the blade.

I agree with you, but I personally believe that if you carry a Minimalist, that it should only be used for self defense/emergency just so they are always hair poppin sharp when you need them.

That is the major thing I have to explain to people. Your self defense knife is just that, not a can opener, box cutter, razor, or a whittling knife. the only time you should take it out is an emergency or by request of a Police Officer.
