I love Ontario's SP line. I've got the SP5, SP6 and the SP10. I really like the SP6 so I decided to modify the SP10 to be somewhat like it but even better imo. I cut off the hump on the back of the blade, lowered the tip, stripped the coating off and thinned the cutting edge a lot which really makes it slice and chop better. For the money it's hard to beat Ontario's blades. About the only company that rivals it is Cold Steel which also makes low cost high value blades.

oXObsidianXo Amazon is a fog of ambiguous bullshit you gotta sift through at your own peril and their Q&A section is laughable with morons pulling answers out of their ass and idiots asking the questions. Things like: Q: *Is this knife too big for me?* A: Well, it's big but not too big for you. Q: *Is it stainless steel?* A: Yes, but it will rust if you're not careful. Q: *Is the blade legal size?* A: I don't know where you live, but yes. Q: *Does it hold an edge well?* A: Absolutely! I can't wait till it arrives! ...etc.

When using this knife/sheath I tend to leave the bottom strap unsnapped and snap the top one NOT over the finger guard. It still helps keep the knife in place but also allows the it to be drawn.. If you draw it straight up. I've had this knife for around 10 years and it's still one of my favorites.

Got this one from Amazon not to long ago. Also has good reviews by Nutnfancy. Don't have much time playing with it, but it is a MANLY knife. Would scare away anyone without a gun but think its best as a good woods/ camp knife. I'm pretty happy with it and sure it would carve up as many walkers as you can handle. Good review Jeff. Showed my wife "Cristina" your videos and she found you entertaining. Coincidence I'm Jeff also. Have a great one.

These Ontario SP10 Raider bowies are an EXTREME VALUE... They are USA manufactured Knives that come in Cheaper then the Crappy El Salvadorian Condor knives and the same price as the Chinese made Schrade Fixed blade knives.... The sheath is American produced and it made by Bianchi Holsters... Its US Produced 1095 steel with a proper heat treat... You simply can not go wrong for 50 bucks... Buy one...

This bad boy is an all purpose knife (including fighting) that was born from the need to get more utility from the Marine Ka-bar fighting knife. It was not designed for batoning. And perhaps gloves would be good to include in your outdoorsman kit.
@AlexKS19925 жыл бұрын
I think it's fair to say the Bowie knife was made to be a fighting knife. After all it was designed by a man who had a reputation for being a tough son of a bitch. We know him as Jim Bowie and he is one of my favorite folk hero and I love the Bowie knife.

I like the older sheaths (like yours) better than new ones. Yours is very similar to my KaBar Warthog sheath. I use a black nylon dog collar attached to a mini polymer carabiner which connects to the ring at bottom of sheath...(instead of shoelaces).

Here in 2019,lol. I want a BK9...but due to lack of cash ATM....I think I will go with this one. I considered the SP53 or the SP5....the 53 because to me the tip would be stronger...but, the 1095 steel on this appeals to me more than the 5160 on the SP53. Still thinking, but, I think The SP10 will win out in the end.lol

My SP50 has the same handle as the Marine Raider, I believe. I like the handle (and knife) quite a bit, but yes that's bird's beak is a pinkie slayer. I keep meaning to grind it off. This is the first review of the Marine Raider, that I can remember, that gave a positive review of the sheath.

Full tang vs. full profile tang. Thats where some folks get confused. Like the USMC Kabar, you see the tang at the end but its a rat tail stick tang. This one is full tang vs the BK9 full profile tang. I got one for 50 flat, but it was preowned, with a blade like this that doesnt matter.

I like that sheath better than the version they they use now , (or was) because it has the leather back and canvas front the breaths if it get a little damp.and the leather protects the blade from body sweat. ♠️😎☢️⚔️♠️⚔️☢️😎♠️

Very good video. I do have a couple of suggestions- and I have not read any comments below btw- #1- I know that it's bushcrafty to use wood to baton with, but instead why not use some type of small hammer? it would get rid of the point sticking issue. #2- If the handle is rubber, why not just use a box knife and cut that pommel swell off? Get rid of the issue all together? Or wrap it with something to cushion the pinky finger? I'm not trying to be a smartass, its just a couple of things I thought of while listening to you speak on the merits of this knife. Thank you again for the information.

I have seen a lot reviews on different websites selling this knife and there are just a few that say theirs broke or bent at the hilt like a Ka-Bar does when there is too much lateral force, but I have never actually seen a bent or broken sp10. The only exception is a pretty new video on youtube of a sp10 tip breaking off randomly during the short video.

@cutlerylover10 жыл бұрын
its preference really, but there are simple facts that go along with it too like hatchets chop better than knives, always will...I might bring this up in future vids, I like knives for what I do in the woods, hatchets to me are a better choice for those who venture deeper into the woods or spend days out there...I spend hours in the wild not days or weeks so what I think would be different than some select few...

0:57 seconds in an not only do I not want this knife, I want nothing to do with this company. When you buy paracord even in just 100' sections, its $0.05/ft. I'm thinking that would be down under $0.01 if you're buying a production lot. The fact is they don't respect you as a customer, nor their image as a company. On the other hand, people can hate on a company like SOE, say John's an asshole, the gear is expensive, but when you get it the last thought you're going to have is "I wish they would have spent a little more and done X."
@cutlerylover10 жыл бұрын
yes yes, but you cant fault the knife or boycott the company because of the shoelaces..maybe they wanted to be different...I made fun of it but I cna care less about that tons of fixed blades dont come with any cord for the leg tie...

I have kicked the hell out of this knife for three years now and not only has it performed beautifully, the tip is still as sharp as the day I got it.
@franktheweinerburke10 жыл бұрын
Honestly I would have preferred nothing to the shoe laces, just like getting no hex wrench with a knife is better than getting one that snaps in half the first time you use it. I'm sure the knife is great, and there could even be some inside joke about Marines using shoelaces to lash their knives I don't know about, it just comes off to me as cheapening their brand image.
@ktrigg210 жыл бұрын
David Burke I see what you're saying. I have to admit too that although my RAT3 is an excellent knife overall the edge was absolutely horrible from the factory. I have also heard that the cutting on the Micarta scales can sometimes be off, but overall I'd hate to see anyone pass on Ontario knives for a few aesthetic shortcomings.
@Adamanteus0810 жыл бұрын
You find more use for one good piece of shoelace than one piece of paracord when tying shoes. Not like you carry a bunch of other cords for other things *rolleyes*
