I have a bunch of these type sharpeners but rarely use them, Only if I cant use a strop or a steel on it, Then i might give it a few passes on the stone and go back to the steel/strop. Then these are kinda last resort like if I'm out in the woods with only that. Just because they're light and compact. But otherwise i agree

@your_favorite_ranger im no expert but those wedge sharpeners take some of the metal off the blade when sharpening. Over the long term you will not have any blade left. A wet stone, on the other hand, re straightens the bent/dull blade
@kallistermiller8075
@kallistermiller8075 7 ай бұрын
@@wideputinofficial9094You are completely wrong with everything you just said. To sharpen any knife you have to take material off of the blade. When you need to sharpen a knife, you use for instance, a whetstone to get rid of the old edge and create a new one. The reason why the sharpener shown in the video is bad is because it takes off way too much metal as compared to a whetstone. The only reason it was able to be sharpened quickly is because it took off way too much metal.

There is only three types of people that think they could sharpen a knife in 60 seconds; the moronically hubristic. the intentionally deceitful. or those who genuinely do not understand anything about edge geometry (and do not care about destroying their knives)

Thank you. That is because I am super talented at hand sculpting a blade. If you sharpen about 120 knives a day three days a week at least three weekends a month for 20 years, I am better than just about anybody can comprehend. I was a welder fitter fabricator master of building stuff out of steel for 45 years. Thank you for the comment. Have a great day.
