Stopping by to say thank you for the video! I have some Aramis scales that I hadn't gotten around to putting on until now and I ran into the clip screw issue. You saved me the hassle of trying to figure out everything through trial and error.

Aramis makes awesome scales and is incredibly friendly and helpful. He made the carbon fiber scales for my Yojimbo 2, Delica and 0562 and G10 scales for some of my other knives. I often receive compliments about them from fellow knife nuts.

Locking pliers seem to work the best if you hold the barrel spacer and just screw it off. I add some tape to the inside of the pliers to help with damage.

Nice. Very nice, helpful information indeed. Thumbs up! I wondered which particular model of a Wiha screwdriver you used. Was it a 1/4 shank compatible stubby driver? But most importantly, which precision bit set you used for such a job? Such a set also has to have 1/4 in shanks, no? I don't think that typical precision bits have 1/4 shanks which would fit into this particular driver. A knife enthusiast has to get a set that could be used for all brands of folders, using different screws. Wiha looks like a perfect driver for such a job. Obtaining all needed instruments is a first step anyone has to take in order to dress their knives with these beautiful scales and hardware.

I've always detested the yojimbo because of the bottom of the stock handle looking like an actual turd, but with these scales it's squared off at the bottom and completely changes the look in my opinion. Very nice modification.

Thanks for the awesome video. I must admit that I was hoping to see you tackle a lanyard tube. There is some pleasure to be gained by watching someone else deal with that nightmare. Actually, I would like to know if there a secret to removing that tube. My methode was pulling, twisting and prying. Followed by using pliers wrapped in a microfiber cloth and still ended up scratching the tube a bit.

What is the hardware on that para 3 and where can I get some, been struggling to find a good set of hardware for a para 3
@socmonki5 жыл бұрын
Looks great! Love those Aramix scales. One question...why the Ti stop pin? I had one on my Para 3, but being softer than the steel used for the lock bar it wore quickly and caused hellacious lock stick. I put the stock one back in...actually, all the stock hardware back. Put the blue Ti stuff on my PM2 LOL the blue stop pin looked great, but didn't turn out very functional IMO.

The size of screw (W) for the deep carry clip on one of the Aramis Scales should be 1.6mm / M1.6 - 6mm in length(.25 depth / pick the appropriate head type) In case you want to buy them and keep the other stock scale screws. People think this info is Top Secret James Bond stuff. If you can't find this info you have to pay some outrageous price for 3 screws. I will source them in Ti.

I can't stand deep pocket clips. Every one I've tried had a huge hotspot on the bend part (Hogue Ritter had a bad one). For spyderco , RGT (ripps garage tech) makes the BEST clip for a spyderco knife. You can't feel it in hand, it sits great in a pocket and looks amazing being a sculpted 3D clip. He has a few finish and ano options as well as a curved clip that fits the para 2 better than a straight clip. His scales are really nice too(when he has them) but I love the custom models Aramis makes. His scales make the bugout look like a different, much sexier knife. And they look very comfortable. If I didn't have custom scales for the knives he offers i'd buy some. If I ever get a bugout, I'm hitting him up. Nice guy to talk to, same with carbonplate (helps to know the language). I ordered some similar C.F. so I can make scales for my Spyderco Smock.

Great video Doc, you are one of the best. I love you vids although I gotta say, I don't watch as much since you drifted into custom land, so take that for what it's worth. Not much. I do feel better as a human with the knowledge that I hung in and installed several Lynch clips even when the brain surgeon gave up. I would love these scales but I fear they would not fit my belt holster. I carry my YJ2's on the belt in a custom leather holster by Wicekleather on Etsy. Check that out, they are beautiful. This allows me to always have a YJ2 on me when I want to carry another knife in my pocket for hard use or food prep. Be well Frunkey and don't forget us in the manufactured knife world. : )
