Bicep cruncher is something I use tons because everyone's reaction is to lock the arms when an arm bar is attempted so the sudden pain is a great way to get a tap

my favorite duo! if you notice, Jared's hand turns white with bicep slicer from armlock 1, that tells you a lot about how effective this technique is.

I recently hit my first compression knee lock (accidentally, I believe it might be my first knee lock ever, but then I'm a white belt) almost by pure chance. Since then, I've been looking for more compression locks. My training partners might not be grateful to you for making this video, though! ...ah well, they probably hate you two already (and David Avellan, too) for making your "street kimura" instructional, anyway. For the record, it was inspired by a move I'd seen in a Stephen Kesting instructional: I was in side control, but the opponent (another white belt) had managed to grab my hand in the bent of his knee and was triangling his legs, trying to use that to pull my hand away. I guess he wanted to re-guard, or at least to prevent me from moving to mount or a submission. That actually worked - I wanted to go for the mount, personally... That's when I had an idea. So, with my other hand, I grabbed the ankle of the leg that was bent around my forearm and pulled it towards his own butt. He tapped so fast I was awfully surprised! (I was told later that this is an actual move that I hadn't been taught yet). For the record, the move Stephen Kesting had shown was about bending the knee around your leg, not your hand. I was just curious whether it's going to work in a modified way.

One of my favorite techniques is hitting calf slicer/knee separator from reverse mount, especially when many people automatically assume a knee bar is coming and defend by triangling their legs. You can also hit bicep sliver from top side when someone is trying to defend against limits by grabbing their own pant/belt.

There's a compression lock available if you're in top side, go for a kimura, and uke burries their arm. Just cross your arms around their bent elbow and hug super tight. If that doesn't get them, go N/S and drop to your hip. It's a shoulder lock
@ericdcbrown19804 жыл бұрын
I "invented" one from the failed kneebar. If a standing opponent runs out of a loose kneebar, catch the back of their knee with your lower leg and force their knee to bend (to the ground) with your pelvis on the top of their foot and your leg (shin) in the back of their knee. Sit up fast as they fall and "Dan Severn grip" one hand between their legs and the other around the outside and hip forward. It's a calf slicer everybody passes up in order to take the back. You can finish inside or outside sinkaku (triangle) i.e. It doesn't matter much how you stuff your calf in there so long as your pelvis bends their foot up to their butt and you can monkey grip between their legs. It's a good trap because nobody knows the move. They think they're getting out of a kneebar and getting top turtle or stand up. They're not. they're getting their knee raped the opposite way than a kneebar. Enjoy

@KnightJiuJitsu6 жыл бұрын
I understand. The only reason I will avoid these is if the person I’m doing them on is unfamiliar or a competitor that these aren’t legal in their division. Otherwise, I make them respect the move and tap.

Great video! Love compression locks. On the calf crush try placing your outside foot on the hip while keeping your inside leg on the inside. Use your inside leg's shin and place it behind their knee if the space is open to prevent them from turning away or standing. If they stand and go into you, the foot on the hip (not necessarily crossing over if you don't have the right angle, and they might remove your foot anyway, keep the foot on the hip is faster/eaiser to do and faster to replace if someone takes it off) will allow you to go with the pressure and roll. I'll add some links for you

I just want to say that I love watching your videos, they are awesome and I have learnt a lot and really look forward to watching the new videos you post. But as a white belt, and I'll probably get smashed for this, I think posting this video is really irresponsible. Showing compression locks that can break arms and dislocate elbows to white belts who have no real understanding of control and how much pressure to apply, I think is just asking for trouble. Please, no more videos like this unless they come with some of kind disclaimer like... White Belts do not try this. Sorry for the negative feedback on this. Keep up the good work.
@KnightJiuJitsu6 жыл бұрын
I am a little confused...yes, these techniques can cause injury, but so can every other joint lock in Jiu-Jitsu - it's what they are designed to do. It should be understood that safety is required in training. A compression lock is no more dangerous than any other arm or leg lock. As for danger, chokes are potentially deadly, but we show those to brand new students as well.
