These are five very important and useful chokes to know and have in your arsenal. This is the No-Gi edition and I will do a gi edition later. These are in no certain order, but very useful chokes and some variations of each are included as well.
In this video I show how to apply:
• Rear Naked Choke / Short Choke
• Guillotine: Standing, Guard, High-Elbow & Arm-In
• Arm Triangle with Darce and Anaconda Variations
• Triangle Choke
• Epstein Choke / No Gi Ezekiel
I hope you like these and get some usefulness out of them. Let me know in the comments if there are any that should be included in this list as well. Thank you as always for watching!
Thank you for your continued support through watching and subscribing. Turn on those notifications to know as soon as I post!

The way how Knight describes the movement and technique shows he’s a very good instructor. In NYC the majority of instructors don’t care; just roll and pay $250 a month without learning proper technique.

KZbin support said it should update in 24 hours. Just for those of you who were confused or curious. I have no idea why they are doing that, other than something about the algorithm or something. The Arm Triangle has to be the choke I get the most mileage out of as a karate student, believe it or not. It's surprisingly useful if you're working a standup clinch and use an armdrag to set it up. Even if I don't get the choke, I have a LOT of control over their balance and can easily bring them to the ground into side control, mount, or back mount depending on what happens as we go down.
@KnightJiuJitsu
@KnightJiuJitsu 3 жыл бұрын
Absolutely. The head and arm control mechanics are extremely useful in the standing clinch too. Great for Muay Thai as well. Thanks for the comment.

@@KnightJiuJitsu Thanks for the answer. I actually tried BJJ for 6 months a few years back, but life events kept me from regularly attending so I never got past white belt. But what struck me was how many of the movements from my kata showed up in the BJJ techniques I was being shown (of course it's to be expected as human bodies are only meant to move in so many ways and what makes the martial arts different is a system's chosen focus) and that short stint in BJJ really helped me find more versatility in my karate. That being said, I still hate being on the ground since I'm primarily a striker and if I do go to the ground, it's gonna be a very short trip for some quick ground and pound to stun my opponent so I have better odds of running way (plus being a bully magnet in grade school taught me that, for me, keeping my feet and staying mobile works better). Sorry for the rambling, but I just remembered something else. When I started BJJ, I wanted to learn the Triangle Choke so badly because it was my favorite submission to see pulled off. Then I learned that I have physical limitations which make pulling it off very difficult (mainly not quite enough flexibility and very thick thighs for my frame). But in keeping with head and shoulder control themes, I learned how to use the setup for the triangle to sweep from full guard to a very high mount with one of my opponent's arms trapped or I could threaten with the choke and use them pulling back to evade it as an opportunity to kick away from them and scramble back to my feet where I'm strongest. Not exactly the intended use for the technique but it works well enough for me, at least.
