Not exactly. He didn't have to, but he asked stundrivers to teach him. He did most of J-turns, handbrake turns, burnouts and low speed drifts by himself, but fast driving scenes were done by stuntdrivers, especially after Hasselhoff had a big crash and producers got scared that the star could kill himself.

Most of the more dangerous stunts like Turbo Boost and Ski Mode were actually done by Jack Gill, who was also the stunt driver for Dukes Of Hazzard. David Hasselhoff did perform some of the more routine stunts like burnouts and 180s.

@@AchtungBaby77 Yes. Somewhere I read that Hasselhoff did one Turbo Boost, then failed to control the car damaged by landing and crashed into a tree at high speed. This was were they stopped him from doing dangerous stunts. This was to some extent confirmed by Hasselhoff recently who said he did one jump and crashed the car. He also had a few f*** ups. There a recording when he was supposed to do a handbrake turn and jump out of the car in one shot. He did a turn, then jumped out of the car, but forgot to turn Trans Am into neutral, so the car left and Hasselhoff chased it on foot. Eventually he managed to get back in and stop it. Then they re-shot it, again with Hasselhoff as a driver. There is also a scene in of early episodes, when T/A was supposed to do a handbrake turn, and then get into the SEMI. You can clearly see Hasselhoff driving, and repeatedly looking and handbrake lever to check it's position. Later on he learnt to reach handbrake lever without looking.

Have you always noticed that the baddies base...... always had the same old computer panels and screens computer bases and flashing lights! N they were the exactly the same in the knightrider bases! 🤣🤣And the baddies would always have a great big warehouse somewhere!! 🤣🤣

If you watch the pilot episode "Knight of the Phoenix", KITT actually has seatbelts to start with (though Michael and Devon never wear them). Then about midway through the pilot, they suddenly disappear. Then later in the demolition derby scene, the seats are fitted with different seatbelts, which Michael does actually wear.

The best thing is that Hasselhoff did most of handbrake, J-turns and low speed turns by himself, and during the series he got so good in it, he could use that airplane handlebar for it. There are many scenes when you can clearly see it's definitely Hasselhoff doing the driving stunts as his face is very clearly visible. There is also a scene in one of the first episodes when you can see him repeatedly looking at the handbrake handle before doing the turn- that was when he was still learning. Later he didn't have to look, he knew where the handle is by muscle memory.

One strange thing in this show is how almost nobody tried to still or reproduce KITT's armor formula. Large companies that build armored vehicles would anything do for it. Just imagine a tank that cannot be penetrated from any of it sides even the rear or the roof and weights up to 3 times less then the Abrams tanks. FLAG must be doing excellent work in order to stop spreading any kind of rumor about invulnerable black Trans-Am. I mean we have couple of episodes with villains that know KITT's secret but for some reason they prefer doubtful plans instead of steeling money, gold, etc. Yet they could easily make millions buy selling information about Michael's car and calling names of those who know the formula or just revealing location of FLAG's research center, where you should be able to find information not just about the armor but also technologies of extremely advanced AI.
