That is the great thing about KZbin, it isn't one country, anyone in the world can watch and comment. In Europe Knipex are the go to quality brand, we don't have Klein much and just a few Channelocks. Your 13 72 8 is for the US marked only as it is designed for you gauge wire and screw, ie, none metric. There is a metric version over here but without the screw cutters. Always nice to see a new KZbinr

Problem with Knipex, isn't their price that most people say, but it's addiction these tools cause... Nice video!
@joek70312 жыл бұрын
I dont even think knipex is really that expensive.

Price depends on where you are, US implemented extra tariff a year or two ago on Knipex tools so everybody in North America got screwed.

Nice review man. Wife bought me a pair of these for my b-day a couple months ago. I haven't really used them much yet but love everything about them so far. Something I didn't see in this video was covering the main wire cutters. They appear up to the task. Later, Drew

I’ve been looking for a new installation tool for a while now and the Kinipex have been high on the list. They don’t have a crimper but that’s not a deal breaker. I think you’ve helped me to make up my mind. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for watching Rocky! I love mine. A joy to use for sure.

Just got mine. And yes, it is awesome. My only complaint is that it doesn't have a universal crimper like the 1392200 electrical installation pliers. So I had to get one of those too! Still finding ways to limit the weight of my 16" tool bag which holds about 20 Knipex pieces (even though I don't use them all)! Yes, Knipex is addicting!

thank you for doing a follow up. I prefer the Klein yellow hybrid needle-nose/stripper. I don't cut bolts much. None of my strippers have/keep the lock or spring.
@wim01042 жыл бұрын
using that technique, you can strip romex sleeve with any cutters/strippers/scissors
@marcin3152 жыл бұрын
Living in europe, I own the european version which doesn't have the bolt/screw cutting ability, but lubricating your tool once in a while always seems a good idea. Some of knipex come pre-lubricated. About the 2nd one - i'm not sure if it's a feature, but when i hold mine in a vertical position and close them fast they tend to lock the spring... Anyways if it comes to stripping I do it in closed position Cheers mate!

I picked one of these up along with the Crescent adjustable wrench/ pass-thru ratchet with SAE/Metric sockets. Im looking to make a tool kit with multi function, all in 1, combination tools. This knipex Forged plier should handle all my wire needs. Any other such tool suggestions is appreciated.

I would also suggest an 11-1 multi screwdriver. Perhaps a Wiha or Klein.

I want to get these bc cutting machine screw seems to destroy Klein and ideal strippers, hoping the knipex ones are tougher
@Zw1d2 жыл бұрын
I mean.. I wouldn't expect you to have ISO M3 screws on hand.. but if by any chance you have one, would you give cutting it a try and see if they damage the thread?
@dariodesansebastian7 ай бұрын
In your opinion, for someone that wants to have as few tools as possible, would it make sense to have this and the electrician sheers from Knipex? Or it's better to have only this one and done? I don't do any electrician work for now, but I want to have it covered! Thanks, great review! I love when people actually use the tools and give prover updates!

I just wish they sold a chrome plated VDE version like they do for the metric version.

After using them to cut the 8-32 screw you demo’d did the screw thread cleanly?
@OpportunityElectrical Жыл бұрын
Yes they did. Probably the most impressive thing about the tool is how easily the cut screws thread on.

What romex strippers were those exactly?
@OpportunityElectrical Жыл бұрын
Klein used to make a "bent nose" or "Right angle" romex strippers so that way you could strip your sheath after you put the romex in the box instead of stripping it before you shove the cable in the box like the "straight" nose strippers. www.kleintools.com/catalog/combination-cutting-tools/klein-kurve-bent-nose-nm-cable-strippercutter-0 South wire makes one too www.amazon.com/Southwire-SNM1214HH-US-ROMEX-WIRE-STRIPPER/dp/B07WDR197X/ref=asc_df_B07WDR197X/?tag=&linkCode=df0&hvadid=385172629843&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=8940603937045138216&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9020213&hvtargid=pla-843444219099®ion_id=972485&ref=&adgrpid=73789135410&th=1

@OpportunityElectrical Awesome. My buddy has a pair of the kleins i believe but it appears Klein doesn't make them anymore. He's been trying to find another pair for several years now with no luck. Thanks for the links.

My pair tightened up after cutting a couple screws. Tight to the point my hand would cramp up trying to open it with one hand. Has this happened to yours?
@OpportunityElectrical2 жыл бұрын
I have never had it tighten up... but I have had to squeak pretty bad after cutting screws. I just used WD-40 and it took care of it. Keep me posted if that doesn't work, thanks!

Here is a question. It might have to do with post times but just looking at upload times your first video which is these pliers was a year ago and this video which is titled 1 yer use review is posted 7 months ago. I sont know that 5 months would be considered 1 year use review. Otherwise great video as i have the same pliers as well
@OpportunityElectrical2 жыл бұрын
Yeah it is kind of frustrating that it says "a year ago" because I actually uploaded it nov of 2020, the "after one year of use" video was uploaded feb of 2022. I suspect when nov comes around the 1 year changes to 2 years. I miss the good ole days on youtube when it said the actual date of uploading stuff. Thanks for the comment!

The lock doesn't hold the pliers quite all the way closed. That is what you are seeing. When you squeeze the handles the jaws closes all the way.

@@kristofferholst6053 Hello sir. Just watched some more videos from Knipex on KZbin. It would appear that you are correct! Videos in German clearly show “K” is not silent. I’m my defense, I’ve seen videos from factory reps in English where the “k” isn’t silent. One video had the rep saying it two different ways within seconds of each other! Thanks for enlightening me, sir.
