The dial is for tension on the front, right? Not depth, although that could affect deptch. I'd like to know for sure.

It’s adjustment is between a loose grip to a light tug. It never bites hard enough to cut a strand. You can open it up and slightly extend the spring if you want it to cut hard.

I bought a pair of these and they are horrible. For $134 and they won’t cut no matter how much I adjust them. I bought the weicon number 5 and they cut every time without all the adjusting and they were only $26

Despite the price, these are the nuts. When I first bought mine I felt the build quality was a little 'light', and that they would not last very long. Had them a year and a half with pretty much daily use and a few drops and still working fine. The only thing I will say is that certain cable manufacturers use a more rubbery/stretchy/soft type of insulation, and in these cases may need to adjust the tool fine tune or twist and pull a second time. You learn to use the tool with this type of cable and is still very effective, but this tool definitely works better on a more brittle/solid type of insulation. Apart from that, a really great tool I use all the time.

After spending over $500 in just two months on replacement Knipex pliers. I definitely want a pair of these but I unfortunately have to go and do other things with a little money I have like replace my bathtub shower walls dial the bathroom floor replace the toilet and tile underneath the vanity and replace that. Basically the whole bathroom remodel before I can buy anymore Knipex or other German tools that seemed too easily rival anything made in America. And a lot of the stuff made in Japan which are the three best tool makers that I know of.

Kuh-Nip-X needs to make these so they'll strip without having to grip the wire firmly with my other hand. I do like the depth control knob though.

They clearly state it's not for THHN. If you buy wire at Home Depot then they're going to make a mess.

I love buying expensive tools because I know they will last. This is just too expensive for what it does for me. Maybe if my life’s work involved stripping wires all day for 10+ years.

It’s not meant to strip THHN wire because of the extra coating it’s got.

I was on the fence about ordering this tool because it had more negative reviews that which is normal for knipex. After watching your review and demonstration of the use I can see where if somebody doesn’t know how to properly use the tool You could certainly get a unjustified negative review. You did an awesome job of demonstrating the tool and because of that I’ll be ordering one first thing in the morning
@ParklanCustom2 жыл бұрын
I am happy it helped. I agree; it took me a second or two to realize I was letting the wires slide through my fingers which was causing that partial stripping. I totally agree with your assessment. It is a great tool!

Yeah I got the tool free, but there is no stipulation. Just because you get the tool free, doesn’t mean you have to give it a good review. That’s why I also mention the negatives of the tool, with this one in particular is the price.

The K is not silent, the company sent me a shirt when they sent these tools on how to correctly pronounce it. Go check out that video(title: Amazing news about Knipex tools). Or just KZbin how to pronounce Knipex correctly, they even made a video about it. Thanks for stopping by!
