I found this video because I was imagining a blanket with both knit and crochet. I'm really thankful for all the tips and things to consider. Plus now I know I'm not a lunatic for thinking I could do it lol.

This is exactly what I needed! I was working on a scarf with alternating panels of Knit and crochet. The directions didn't really tell me exactly how to switch from C to K. The photos were (of course) right handed. I am a total leftie. Normally I can turn things "inside out and backwards" in my mind with no problem. This time it made no sense. The written directions were not clear. Watching your demonstration showed me instantly what I was supposed to do! Instant LIGHTBULB over my head! Now I can go back and start it again and it will work perfectly! THANK YOU!

I like switching to a knit ribbing on the cuffs of my gloves and mittens sometimes. Bind offs always leave such a nice row to throw a crochet hook into. It's fun doing combination projects. It can take time due to experimentation, but that's part of the fun.

I just finished my first knitting project and used my crochet hook to do the bind off (not the typical crocheted bind off, btw, but the “easy lace bind off”, which was very similar to a single crochet). It was SO much easier than manipulating the stitches with my knitting needles. I couldn’t resist continuing on and adding a crocheted edging to my knitted shawl. Though I did the bind off with a similarly sized hook, I went up several sizes to do two rows of HDC V-stitch. Turned out beautifully and now I’m motivated to continue to combine the two crafts. Thanks for the tips!

Happy to have found this because I've been experimenting with both. To start, I have added knit straps to crochet bags. Then to deal with a shrug knit sleeve that was rolling despite several rows of garter stitch, I added cross stitch crochet border. Now I have started another bag that is made of squares (middle section of each square is 4 x 4 in knit and then added two rows of crochet around to make a unique, sturdy granny square). Oh the possibilities!

Hello I really enjoy your presentations. Yes, I made a few projects combining crochet and knitting. I like to knit the shirt, and leave about 3-5" for a crochet border. I love it lacy and it makes every simply knitted shirt, into an elegant airy shirt at the end. I prefer to add the crochet to the knitting rather than the knitting to crochet. Although, last project I worked the other way around and the results surprised me in their beauty. I prefer always to use a smaller size hook than the knitting needles, because the crochet is wider and has more volume, and if I don't intend to make ruffles, I use one or two sizes down with the crochet hook. BTW, I tried without the bind off but instead to crochet the stitches from the needle. I think it's better. Thanks again, I'm looking forward to listen to more of your tutorials. Yael

I combined knit and crochet when making mittens. I did a knit cuff for its strength and crochet for a thicker and warmer fabric for the fingers.

Thanks for this episode because I’ve been thinking 🤔 of how I could do both knitting and crochet for a sweater.

I made two different baby blankets, knitting the body then adding crocheted boarders. I got fancy with the second one: tumbling blocks knit pattern then a crocheted butterfly boarder and finished off with a type of scalloped edge. I used sport weight on size 7 needles but don’t remember the hook size. I have a beautiful full set of Chiaogoo interchangeables but a motley collection of hooks, one of these days I will get a proper set even if it is just me collecting one of each size in a single place.

I recently made a C2C blanket and thought about throwing a knitted border together on it. Glad I didn’t die to size, but certainly a thought for future projects.

I do alot of combining primary when doing edges and fluffy fringe for baby booties. Decorative spike yarn is much easier to crochet the knit for me. Thanks for the video of combining rows. ❤

I made a pill hat with an extra bulky yarn. The side was a simple garter stitch about 6" wide, at 21" length. I crocheted up the ends to create a back seam. I then crocheted the knitted edge, reducing stitches after each round. It had a stiff flat top and was super warm!

I crocheted sleeves on a knitted sweater once simply because I dislike knitting sleeves. Turned out okay for my yarnchoice (a fluffy thick yarn which was hard to see individual stitches) I'm thinking of combining them in my scrap blanket yarn too, just to mix it up!

This is great! I just finished making a cabled headband, and wanted to turn it into a cowl, with crochet on both sides,(so that the cable is going horizontal) so I did a quick search to see if anyone else was doing this kind of thing, and there you were! Thanks!

Found you because my sister suggested crochet for the shawl project I designed to include an inset motif. It turned out horribly in just knitting because the runs were so long and I didn't handle them well, so she's offered to teach me crochet at Christmas and I was really hoping I could do the motif in crochet and the shawl in knit. ❤

Is it normal to lose a stitch each time you go back and forth between knit and crochet? That either happens, or if I manage not to, it bulges on one side.

Great idea, thank you. Would it work if I don't cast off stitches after knitting, and starting crocheting directly into each knitted stitch by working a sc, dc, etc.?

How do you mean? In crochet you just have one loop, if you don’t bind of the knitting you have lots of loops. But in general, I try things I can’t find info on all the time.

I tried going directly from knitting to Tuisian. I put the active yarn on the left and pulling what I had until the right knitting needle held the stitches. Then I pulled each loop onto my hook. I then did the standard return pass (ch 1, ch 1 pull through 2, ch 1 pull through 2, etc.) I didn’t love the way it looked but you might!
