Knit Tips: KYOK increases

KYOK stands for "knit, yarn over, knit." It's adouble centered increase used in lacework, plain shawls, and lately i've been using it in a few special patterns. It isn't just my favorite new stitch, it's a really fast and easy way to do a nice increase once you learn what it is.
Knit a stitch, leaving stitch on left needle; without dropping stitch, YO, knit into front loop of same stitch again, slipping stitch from left needle to complete increase.

I just got a book of 5 lovely knit shawls and each calls for this crazy stitch, KYOK. The pattern explains how to do it, but I just couldn't visualize how I was going to end up with 3 stitches from one. Your video and explanation made it all perfectly clear. Yes... I meant on the wrong side rows. What I am understanding is that you would purl three stitches on the wrong side where you made the increase on the right side? Thanks for trying to help!!

Just in first and second increase is very easy, but 3ª and 4º, is impossible to knit, I am trying during two days and I have blisters on my fingers. I would like to see the full video of each row. ( I am speaking of Fox Paws pattern)

Great example, but a question... how do you knit it on the opposite side? As one stitch? as three? I'd love if you can enlighten me. Thanks!

opposite side like next row? no, it's 3 stitches and is best used as a nice centered increase. but sure, you could try decreasing them into one and seeing what it looks like. opposite side like in a purl row? PYOP is also a stitch, but I'm not sure that I have the initiative to make that video and i usually just do a KYOK because I'm lazy that way.

My pattern calls for Kyok-3below. It says to do the Kyok and when complete to drop the stitch off the left-hand needle, allowing rows to ladder down. Are you familiar with this? I am not sure what stitch I am suppose to drop.

+Jane Peterson Yeah... I dunno what that would be exactly. Have you checked the Ravelry pattern help forum? there's usually someone who has made the pattern and knows what to do.
